brakes making nasty squeel/ metal on metal noise, please help
Recently what seems to only be coming from the rear of my car is a terrible squeel/ metal ish noise. Its is only when i brake hard when moving straight or left but almost every time when i turn right while braking above 5 mph.
i have taken the caliper off and pads out, which are almost new btw. no more than 6-8k on them. and everything loked ok, maybe a bit of odd wear on the pads. other than that im puzzled...
the front which isnt squeeling has stoptech slotted rotors with stoptech pads but the rear is oem rotor with hawk pads. I cant remember which hawk pads but the are supposed to be the long life pads. my father in law who is a rather good mechanic thinks my pads are the culprit from wearing a bit odd but i have my doubts due to how nasty the sound is. I wanted to ask here for a second opinion before i just buy new pads.
this sound is aweful fellas, please let me know what you think.

i checked the wheel and there really wasnt much play in it. if it was the bearing, wouldnt it be making more of a humming sound, kind of like a helicopter was in my back seat?
thats what it sounded like in my 328 at least. lord knows, with the cabin noise these cars have to start with i wouldnt be able to differentiate a wheel bearing noise anyway lol

Just because there isn't any play in your wheel bearing doesn't mean your wheel bearing isn't on it's way out. My wheel bearing that went bad had no play in it, but, it made a crackling and humming sound when driving.
