Is this a torn bushing?

was doing my oil change and noticed that this bushing near the passenger control arm is torn. in the 2nd picture you can see my control arm is a little misaligned, its not centered compared to the driver side

would these two issues be an easy fix i can do or would it be better off to send it to a mechanic shop? thanks

Mechanics will charge you an arm and a leg. You can buy replacement bushings for probably $50 and if you just take the control arm to a shop and have em pressed in for you that's the cheapest way. If you replace it with aftermarket bushings then do the other side as well regardless if it looks bad or not, because eventually it will. A bad bushing can be the cause of multiple front end sounds/knocks. It can be ran for awhile but you do want to get it fixed sooner than later. My younger brothers front control arm bushings were shot in his camry and his car would actually jerk hard left or right while driving because of it so it can be potentially dangerous if you completely ignore it.

lower control arm inner bushing is busted.

I think here's the part you need for it.

and a DIY to remove it. Take the whole arm out, have a shop press in the new bushing.

Your lower ball joint is also torn. You'll need a new ball joint and boot.

Your ball joint and bushing is shot.

For the ball joint you can press that out (it's on the spindle) with the kit from AdvanceAuto and a replacement ball joint is anywhere from 60-100 bucks. I bought Deeza ball joints from RockAuto.

The bushings can also be pressed out. However, yours looks like mine did and since it's sitting at that angle the metal might actually be getting worn. I had to replace my whole LCA. I bought both sides for 50 bucks a peice from RockAuto, but they're Dorman parts so let's see how long they last, lol.

may need ball joint separater

remove snap ring with needle nose :

unscrew top of balljoint and use jack to lift and separate control arm

use the balljoint separator to remove

out with the old

wow $100 to rent the ball joint tool. im thinking about replacing the camber arm first since i dont have enough money for the ball joint parts/tool at the moment. any impending danger if i replace the camber arm and bushing and wait for a few months before replacing the ball joint?

which one is more important to replace? im assuming the camber arm and bushing, thanks!

Depends how many miles you plan on driving in those few months.

The boot on the ball joint looks torn, so dirt could get in there, or all that grease could dry up. Which won't be great for a ball joint. You could try to ghetto seal it temporarily.

Well, if you can get it done in a day it might not even hit your credit card, lol. The deposit is refundable though, which is awesome.

Just an FYI in case you decide to pursue this. You will also need a pickle fork (rent it also) to remove that small black cone on top of the ball joint. You then put that over the top of the new one. You'll also need a breaker bar and long *** pipe; I used the handle of my jack. Also, the ball joint doesn't fit into the adapters perfectly; I ripped the boot off and made a big *** mess, but it came out easier. You'll also want to jack the spindle up a little bit to keep it in place when you try to press it out/in makes it a lot easier! Took me about an hour or two since it was the first time I ever did it.

I'd replace the control arm first that way you can inspect the metal where the bushing is to make sure it's even and not worn like mine was. Driving around with a bad ball joint isn't that good though from what I read/seen at other sites. So, I would try to get that replaced ASAP.
