Surely if you're lowered, the ARB would just pivot and the endlink ball joints would all just pivot with no added stress? That's the design of the ARB, it should allow identical movement on each wheel of an axle (lowering) but prevent one wheel from moving alone.

not necessarily, the preload is from having endlinks that are too short. When you lower the car you're essentially bring the LCA closer to the sway bar and now the mounting screw part of the OEM one is pointing slightly down when the suspension is loaded because now the OEM link is too long - that's preload - when the part of the end link the mounts to the sway bar isnt perpendicular to the shaft of the end link. When your cars suspension is on the ground and fully loaded, your end links should look like the original pic I posted (of the endlinks on my counter). The ball joints shouldn't be pointing up or down.

Lot's of useful information here that I am just learning, thank you guys. I will wait for my oem endlinks to wear out before I switch to aftermarket adjustable ones.

Now to find a quality set that won't have any issue. If these phase2 endlinks makes noises, what are the good set that someone will recommend that they have experienced running with?
SPD, Whiteline, SPL, Voodoo?

Guess you missed my comments above on the SPL's. If you don't want noisy parts stay away from them.

^lol

Yeah, Dee, the general consensus seems to go as such: the Moog seem to be the best non adjustable end links (I've heard this many times other than on this thread, and they do look quite stout), the least noisy adjustable end links seem to be the Power Grid and Whiteline, and the Phase2 and SPLs are both solid, high performing, Teflon coated pillowball joint links, but are insanely loud (most likely designed for track purposes).

if you wanna try the Phase2 ones, I'll sell you all 4 for $80. Lol they got about 50 miles on them.

Ran them back in the day, they made lots of popping noise even when torqued to hell. Swapped out for Whitelines.

How's that? You mean there's no noise, or it's just not enough for you to mind?

No noise that I can hear over my blown bushings. They do the job and they're the best price on the market.
Btw now that I have your attention, this is my first time having to change comp rod and LCA bushings. Ino you've done it before so should i just replace the whole arms with cheap "MAS" brand ones I found on rock auto or should I get energy or whiteline replacement bushings?

How long do you plan to keep the car?

Weak points are the comp rod bushings and LCA bushings.

If less than a year, and the ball joints are totally worn out, replace the arms with the MAS stuff.

If you are gonna keep it, test the LBJ in the LCA and if it's good definitely replace all the bushings with energy.

Energy makes a whole front kit, I found it for $30 less on eBay.

I have the Whiteline on mine too. First few days I had to tighten the bolts a couple times, since then they've been nice and quiet, haven't loosened up since.

Just wanted to update this in case anyone is interested: there must be some break-in period for these. I had no interest in changing end links again, so I just left em on for the time being, and after driving it for a while (maybe about 300 miles, but I don't drive it much, so it took awhile to get there), they really don't make much noise anymore. Maybe a little bit when hitting rough roads, but no longer when going slowly over bumps or just simply turning (like they used to). At this point the benefits outweigh the discomfort so I think I'll stick with em. Who knows, maybe eventually they'll make no noise at all.
