Hey guys, wondering if you can help me solve the oddest issue with my 2006 G35X...

Today I was driving home from work when I noticed that pulling into my parking garage, there was a single squeak, like a bird chip, that occurred when turning right. The turn is fairly sharp, and was taken at just under 20mph.

Some things to note are that I've rocked the HELL out of the car, taken it over various speed bumps at different speeds, and tried turning the wheel to full tilt both ways while stationary. None of these things could reproduce the sound. At high speeds, it is not present, and at low speeds, it's extremely hard to replicate the sound.

At this point, I'm at sort of a loss for what this could be. It doesn't feel like much of anything when it does happen, and is literally one, single squeak that seems to be most prominent in sharper right turns around 20mph.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

 

Raise up the car and look at the suspension. Sounds like something is worn.

 

Does it happen when going straight?
If not it could be a little squeak from the aux belt caused by the additional stress on the power steering pump when turning.

 

I will this weekend, but being that I've done as much as I have to test that, I feel that it would've shown up in any capacity that way. It does not make any noise going straight, and doesn't seem like a slipping belt, as that would at least be a couple of chirps. Is there any history in these cars of steering linkages, CV, or rag joints going bad? The car just ticked over 100k, in which time the only thing to have failed was the rear caliper piston sticking.

 

Maybe it is the beats, you'll know when you look more into it!
