2007 g35x Ball Joint repair

Good afternoon all,

I was going in to work the other day and I heard a pretty big squeek after I turned and also when I hit a bump. After some digging on YouTube it sounded like this was a ball joint issue.

When getting an estimate to fix it a local shop on MA quoted me over $1600. Is that right? I looked at parts online and the parts were only about $100.

Any insight would be great.

Thanks,
John

Would highly recommend checking out a local shop that works on imports/Nissan before you pay a dealer that much to remove the suspension bits and replace one ball Joint.

Are there other things on that quote? That price is ridiculous if it's just one ball joint.

I'm not too familiar with the X setup, but if they go by the book I believe it says to replace the whole steering knuckle. I changed my two front ball joints in the steering knuckle with a rented press from Advanced Auto and Deeza ball joint I got from RockAuto.

If it's the ball joint connected to the compression arm that connects to the chassis then you need a whole new arm.

Again, the X might be setup differently from my coupe though.
