06 coupe/sport package with 19" wheels.
I was looking through the FSM to see how low the car sits at factory height. I've owned the car since 50,000 miles with factory struts and springs, I believe. The height is measured from the ground to the highest arch point on the fender. Factory specs are 27.52 in front and 27.95 rear. My front sits at 26 7/8. Rear sits at 27 3/16. I can fit three fingers in the front wheel gap and two in the rear gap(insert joke here). My last alignment they couldn't get the camber perfectly within spec, but not too bad.
Is anyone else with the same setup willing to measure their gap? Is it possible that the original struts have worn in so they sit lower than than new struts?
I have that package. I'll be able to measure in a little bit. 2006 like you; bought as garage queen this past March @ 26.5K miles, now at 30K. So not much wear and tear, same amount of gravity. 5AT.
WOW. Your car is still pretty young. Gotta be one of the lowest mile 06 g35s around here. Is it your daily? I too have an automatic. The FSM states the height with a full tank of gas and coolant and all fluids, so you would think the manual transmission vs auto would be a weight factor. But, the heights are just different based on tire size according to fsm. Surprised to see the car rests highest on 19" wheels compared to the 18 and 17". The 19s fill in that fender quite well though
Yes it's my daily, though my commute is ridiculously short...about three miles round trip. I have to take a longer route purposely just to get the car warmed up properly!
Here's what I measured:
DF 26-3/4
PF 26-5/8
DR 27-1/2
PR 27-1/4
Tires have about 9K easy miles, so not much wear there. Gas tank is not completely full. I'm out of window washer fluid. It's parked on the street, driver's door to curb, so there's a little road crown action in those numbers. Not sure why the passenger side is lower, but there you have it for what it's worth.
Thanks for verifying. Your numbers are close enough to make me comfortable about my suspension. I'd just hate to switch out my struts when it comes time and have the car sit higher. I love the way it sits right now.
No, your '06 isn't lowered! From experience if you can go thru a car wash, get your oil changed anywhere, that's another indication you're at stock height. New struts/shocks won't change the ride height, not after a few miles...Gary
