I have a 2003 g35 sedan.. So I've gotten a loud clunk noise from the front suspension when going over bumps.. but when I go very slow if I hit the brakes it clunks and also if I brake hard over bumps there is no clunk noise... I've seen posts from compression rods sway bar link everything.. need help pinpointing the problem.. I appreciate anything anyone would have to say to help me out here..

 

Every neighborhood has a independent Brake/Alignment shop, you need to find yours. Since suspensions is there main job, they'll find what's making the noise you're hearing and replace worn out parts...but only the ones needed! Cost w/b far less than the parts exchangers at the stealership!

I've already tried that and they told me the whole front end needs replaced when I know it doesn't need it.. thanks for the comment thou..

 

There isn't a part called "the whole front end" however. There are tie rod ends, sway bar end links and bushings, LCA bushings, struts, compression arm bushings, wheel bearings, and a power steering rack and pinion. As for an itemized list of what EXACTLY needs to be replaced and if you suspect they're blowing smoke up your *** then get a second opinion. Nothing wrong with paying g the dealership for a diagnostic of the front end either.

 

I'm just looking for someone who possibly had the same problem.. I plan to fix it on my own so funds are short and I plan to get a new g35 here soon.. it does have close to 300,000 miles.. just trying to make it last the the winter.. I have replaced inner and outer tie rods and lower control arms the sway bar links seem to be fine the tires do not wear unevenly.. im thinking either shocks or compression rod just trying to narrow down the possibilities

 

hoon,hoon, hoon. So many things awry with your post. First, please read the forum headers before you post new threads, this one's description specifically say "No car questions". Second, you've been given great advice here from Gary and cleric, the "front end" covers a ton of parts that wear out over time and you're going to get the same comments from a thread like this as you got doing your research (thanks for that by the way) so you are asking a bunch of people that are nowhere your car to tell you exactly what is wrong with it. No way we can point you to one specific fix.

Get a second opinion from another local mechanic you trust, he can put his hands on the car and dial down the issue. Finally, how are you going to afford a new g35 if your funds are so short you can't properly fix a 300K mile G? We're glad you are here and want to help but please realize we aren't miracle workers.

Likely compression rod bushings are toast, which requires removal of the front brace to get to. You likely have a repair that would total out your car. Cost me about $800 in parts and labor (pressing bushings replacing rear wheel bearings and diff stuff)! I had the time and space to do this myself, a lot of people don’t.
