X means EXPENSIVE,....Hubs/Bearings

I'm not sure if I'll get a answer to this question because there seems to be very few people on this forum but I'm trying to replace the bearings/hubs on the front of my 2006 G35X. Yes I read Mr mustang's long and quite excellent detailed post on this.

I've searched the forums ad infinitum and I tell you it's impossible to get information that is recent and relevant to so few people post to the site anymore.

My question is since the G35X 2006 requires the separate Timken or NTN bearing for the front hub be pressed on to the hub is there a sufficient hub of equal or somewhat lesser quality than the OEM Nissan hub where you don't have to spend $160 for the hub alone and then $105 for the bearing. Something more than some dude on eBay used to do it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't regret getting the G35 I really regret getting a G35X in a transition Year from generation 1 to generation 2 because of this were a G35X 2007 I could purchase the timkenhub & bearing as an assembly versus having to purchase a separate Nissan hub for $240 and an NTN bearing or Timken for a 130 dollars it's ridiculously difficult to find parts for this particular year of the all-wheel drive model does anyone know if a hub that is not OEM will have the ABS sensors in the proper location.?

I've owned jaguars and Mercedes with easier to find parts than this particular year and model of the G35X I really regret selling my 2013 M37 because parts are ridiculously difficult to find on a G35X in the year 2021

Sorry for my rant it's just that I never anticipated that parts would be so difficult to locate and so expensive considering this is a glorified Nissan.

Yes I'm buying new hubs and NTN/Timken Bearings for the front on both sides and it's amazing same year 2006 G35 RWD model the parts are exponentially less expensive. When I drop a front diff or the tranny I'm throwing a stick of dynamite under this car.

Nonetheless I'd really appreciate anyone's advice if one must go with a Nissan OEM hub not to have ABS problems or manufacturing quality issues or should I slap down the $160 for the Nissan hubs.

My car only is 81,000 MI it's a one owner car with 35 pages of infinity service records and this car is becoming a money pit in a hurry.

I apologize for the rent my eyeballs are bleeding from searching eBay etc for just the simple hub and and most of the people that were members of this forum seem to be in the witness protection program.

Luckily I spent the $30 to make this rant.....

Thanks in advance and next time I'll do more homework before I buy a G37 and go with the rear wheel drive only model. .

Trust me you're overthinking how difficult it is to get bearings pressed on/off a wheel hub. It's INCREDIBLY simple, do it once and you will agree.

You really don't even need a bearing press but it does help a lot, a cheapo $120 12 ton press is perfectly sufficient and you can always sell it when you're done to recoup most of the cost.

The important part you DO need is a "bearing splitter". You can get one for about $50.

Without a press take the bearing splitter and install on the hub after it's off the car, then brace the sides with some pieces of wood, take another wood and trim to about the size of the inner part of the hub and sledge hammer it until the hub is off. Installing the new bearing just use more wood (to hammer on so you don't damage metal) and hammer it back onto the hub.

Done!

Or you can take the remove hub down to pretty much any mechanics shop and pay about $20 apiece for them to swap your new bearings onto the hub.

Trust me you are thinking this is a lot harder than it actually is. You can probably search up some YouTube videos to see the process.

Also, it doesn't matter make or model, hubs and bearings are basically the same on every car, practically the same price for hubs and the bearings ARE the same in many cases. AWD have splined fronts just like the rear, RWD has solid front and splined rear hubs.

Thank You Cleric!

Or I can just pay $159 per hub for new OEM and not go through the hassle of pain for the tools and the shop to press the bearings off and I'll have brand new hubs to work with cuz I'm putting $800 worth of new rotors on so I want to clean surface on both sides but thank you so much for your response.

Are the rear hubs on a G35X different than the front hubs in any manner for a 06 G35X?

In other words I'm trying to find the least expensive OEM hub that will function on the front of the 06 G35X that I can have Timken/NTN bearings pressed on to a new hub

I Lease a town home and I don't have enough space to be doing all this work. In South Carolina they're not very good at doing these type of technical tasks that are so prevalent with members on the board. If I have to put $1,200 worth of bearings, discs and brake pads on a better just replace the hubs if I can get two of them at 320 or less .

I'm just trying to find a Nissan OEM hub besides the 40202-24U00 shown as the front hub number.

I guess I'm looking for equivalent Nissan parts that match 40202-24U00 but don't carry the same price tag as a 06 G35X front hub.

I noticed RockAuto temporarily raised the Timken bearings up to 130 each so something's going on.

Any members from Augusta GA or Columbia, SC on board?

Thanks again for answering cleric I really appreciate it this car's becoming a money pit for me and I'm praying that front left whirring sound is a bearing and not a front differential which I know is located on the front right.

Thanks!

I've changed both front bearings on my 06X using the DIYs from this site. I was lucky to have access to a press at work but if you do the work to pull the hubs and take them to a shop it won't cost much to have them press the bearings on. Maintaining an old car costs money. I can't believe I just paid $50 for my 2nd fuel pressure regulator!? But it's better than trying to buy a new (or used) car right now...
