In the photo, what is the purpose of the circled device….not connected to anything
2006 G35X
Lower rearward control arm (front)

As far as I know it’s the bump stop built into the LCA. People cut them off for more angle, which is fine unless you over center.

Not technically a “bump stop”, but as @Urbanengineer alluded to, it is what limits the steering angle.
