WHAT are the best wheel locks out there?

i used to have gorilla locks on my stang but once i lost the key, the tire dealer easily opened the lock. he stuck a socket into it, bending the teeth and easily removed. any other good ones that actually use a key? thanks RX

Search the Forum. This has been discussed several times. Most people will recommend the McGard Spline Drive.

no way, i had the GORILLA and when i lost the key socket, all theyt did is hammer it out. it took them seconds to hammer out the pattern. and even worse, they damaged the lock. all this because i needed new tires and i could not find my gorilla key. I will definately checkj out the other out there. just my opinion.
RX

...but seriously, if they want them, no wheel lock I've ever seen will stop a thief. I run a combo of 2 different ones, so hopefully itll cut down on the chances.

Something people forget is to weigh the lock and get the differential weight vs standard lugnuts......then when machine balancing [radial force] use a temporary stick on weight near the hole where the lock will be installed [mark the hole].

The extra weight even closer to center is enough to throw off balance when installed on car and lock added.
Divide the lugnut radius by the wheel radius to approximate the effect. 28 grams extra weight is like 9-10 gram wheel weight on a 17" rim.

Just like the reason aftermarket rotors need balancing/checking.........every gram is important to get a vibrationfree car.

Locks will deter a common thief, but all you have to do is put a steel tube around the lugs, stand on one end, and the studs will snap. Do it 20 times and you have yourself a full set of wheels to sell.

not at all. very easily to get through. put it this way, any wheel lock can be taken off without the key.
