Question Startup settings for the Tokico D-Spec shocks?

I will be installing a set of D-specs on my coupe this week and I would like to know what settings I should start with. Currently I have Tein S-tech springs and will be mounting a new set of 19" wheels later in the week. I'm looking for a comfortable ride, a little stiffer than stock.

Also, after shock installation, is there a break in period (like with springs)? Should I wait some time before getting an alignment?

I waited one week before getting an alignment but I installed my springs and D-specs at the same time.

I started with 4 turns out from full hard front and rear. Very comfortable... corners like it's on rails. I tried 3 turns out and it was a little to stiff for my taste. The front is easy to adjust but the rear has to be removed to be adjusted which is a PITA. I installed them and took them out about 4 times since I forgot the put the little cover, then I forgot to adjust them to match the fronts, then I wanted to adjust them again, etc...

I'd go with 4 to 5. If the roads you drive daily are rough go with 5, but if they are not particularly bad then 4. If you get a decent floor jack and stands, you can usually adjust in about 20 minutes.

I am getting my D-specs installed on Thursday, right now I have them on 3.5 turns from full hard. Do you think there is a big difference from 3.5-4 turns?

Not 'big' but noticeable - especially if you drive over some harsher surfaces. If its all freeway, you probably won't notice as much.

I think I will set mine to 4, just goint to be a pain in the *** if I need to take the car in to change the rear for stiffer/softer. What did you end up putting yours on?

I usually keep mine on 5 for the streets - the roads out where I work are extremely rough. Last year I autox'd at 4 up front and rear. I think I'm going to experiment a bit more and go like 3.5 up front and 4 in the rear this time and might even go 3.5 in the rear next time. If the roads weren't so rough, I'd probably use 4 in the front and 4.5 in the rear for normal street driving.
