Car shakes when braking at high speeds?

Hey guys, just recently I have noticed that when braking at high speeds my car starts to shake at the wheels pretty bad. I have just recently started to notice this. The breaks dont make any noise though, is it time to change them? I have just about 12k miles on the car.

from your post, it seems as if you have not gotten the brakes changed yet. If you have 03-04 non brembo, they are under warranty.

Brake vibration indicates warped rotors. If your steering wheels shakes while braking, it is your front rotors. If you feel it shake in the brake pedal, it's the rear wheel.

You most likely need both front and rear

YUP, steering wheel, and pedals shake! I actually have 05 non-brembo. I have a oil change coming up anyway, I'll let the dealership know about. Thanks!

So the non-Brembo are covered under warranty but Brembos are not?

I have the same problem with my 2005. However, it only happens braking from like 120. Regular highway and town driving, you don't even notice it.

only 03-04 NON-brembo brakes are covered... the dealer SHOULD replace the brakes anyways, but they don't have to since they are not covered.

It's usually not warped rotors but just uneven pad deposit. Check this article out.

Myth of Warped Rotors

And engine braking to save your brakes is the worst idea I've ever heard of. What's cheaper? New brakes or a new tranny?

dklau33 do you really think it puts much stress on the tranny if you rev match and downshift? I dont think so. I dont even touch my brakes until im going about 20mph in my 6mt unless im trying to drive my car hard or if someone cuts me off or something.

Right, but for the majority of the public population who drives stick shifts, how many do you think know how to rev match downshift properly? And how many are even going to rev match downshift? Still, I think the idea of using your engine to decelrate is rather silly just so you can save your brake pads. Brake pads aren't that expensive.
