FYI, the 04's still had brembo's, they were cancelled on the 05's and up.

brembos are gonna be the better brakes... stopping times are similar (actually i think stock may stop a few feet faster from 70mph)... but the brembos are gonna have less brake fade

yeah, stopping time is about the same, but our brakes fade way faster than the brembos. on BMI when they raced the new G35 on tsukuba, the brake was gone by lap 5. For normal driving, i think its pretty much even, of course brembos looks better. On the track Brembos are better period.

Is that because of the caliper or the pad material?

What does size have to do with brake fade? Are the rotors larger in diameter, cooled better, what? If the Nissan brakes stop the car faster or even just as fast, what makes them fade quicker than the Brembos? Not trying to be a smarta$$, really want to understand. Is brake fade a factor of rotor size or brake pad material, or both?

Both rotor size and brake pad material affect brake fade. Driving style and course also greatly affect brake fade.

I don't know if the rotors are larger in diameter or not but the design: thickness of the rotors, # of calipers and ability to speed bleed the brembos are all reasons the Brembo's are "better" IMO. For what its worth I have tracked my G 5-6 times up to 1 hour on track at a time with stock 03 brembos and have yet to have a problem with brake fade.

Ive read on here that the 05 (non bembo's) rotors are slightly larger.

I'm sure a few people have upgrade to Big Brake Kits. Just keep an eye out in the for-sale threads.

If you can't find any used you can try Stop Techs, I've heard they're pretty good.

Check your stats--the Brembos are larger front and back than the 05-06s.

Brake fade is a combination of many things: pad material, rotor size, rotor weight and venting of rotors, fluid characteristics, distribution of braking force (i.e. more calipers tend to do this better), and even the thermal capacity of the calipers themselves.

If I am not mistaken, the heat capacity of the rotors themselves is the #1 factor in brake fade--larger rotors can handle and dissipate more heat than smaller rotors. Then slots and drilled rotors also can help out to some degree. But, if your fluid can't handle the heat, than all is for naught.

For me, the simple fact is the Brembos are the best braking system with the best feel and the best stopping power that I have ever felt. I have the utmost confidence in these brakes and when I have needed to stand on them they have performed without breaking a sweat. I specifically sought out an 04 at the end of 2004 when the 2005s were already out just to get those big, beautiful brakes worth about $5000.

only 03-04 6mt was equipped with brembo's.. auto was excluded, but covered under warranty. brembo's performs better when in massive use, stopping distance might be slightly better, but it makes a huge difference in some close calls. they look awesome when it's painted in red. personally don't like the gold.
