14" Rear Stoptech Rim Rub
Hey guys,
My friend and I are installing the 14" F&R stoptech kit on my G35 and was test fitting the rear calipers over my 18" VR LE28N wheels (18x9.5 +30). The caliper clears the spokes fine but the strangest thing goes on when we spin the wheel. The caliper rubs ONLY against a certain part of the wheel on the inside. The rubbing occurs on the top of the caliper above where the bridge and where the pads slide in . It's so strange because it only rubs at this one portion of the wheel where you can see the red caliper paint comeoff. I swapped my other rear wheel on and it rubs too. I'm guessing that somehow my rear wheels are out of round maybe from something I ran over? Does that even make sense?
I put in my front wheels (18x8.5 +28) and they don't rub at all...
Has anyone experienced something like this before or know how this could have happened? Is it possible to run over something that could cause this type of damage and not rip through the tire?
The rub is very very minuscule and is probably less than 1mm. Even so, does the clearance need to be more? Should I take a chance and just file the caliper down where it's rubbing or do I need a new set of rear wheels? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I can post pics later, don't have a CF reader at the moment.

i take it this is a coupe... on my sedan with 19x9.5 +43 wheels in the rear, the clearance between the 14" 4-piston caliper and the wheel is 1.8 mm. in the front with 19x8.5 +43, the clearance is about 8mm.
you could always grind your wheels down a little with a side-grinder and paint the insides so they don't rust...
