Emergency! Wheel Problems!

I recently purchased a set of Racing Hart 721's from WheelAutoHaus.. No issues there.

Upon installing the fronts, I found this nubby bolt looking thing between two of the mounting lugs. The wheels dont clear it!! Granted, there are cut-outs between the lug holes on the wheel and it looks like it should just slip into one of those.. but it doesnt. Any ideas????

Now I've got two pretty new wheels (rears), one dirty stocker, and the front right of my car sitting on a jack. Any help would be much appreciated.

its even useless then

that bolt is only there to keep idiots from putting the rear tires on the front when rotating the tires

take it off and dont even give it a second thought

Problem is, it looks more like a welded on shaft with a bolt on the very end. I dont think the wheel will clear the shaft, even with the bolt off. Or does the whole piece come off once the bolt is removed?

Get a socket that fits the nut on the end, take it off, the whole thing will just fall off when you start to turn the socket. You will see how pointless it actually is when you take it off. It is just so that people that don't know these cars won't put the rear wheels on the front when rotating them. If you look at the rear caliper of your car they are not there, nor is there a slot in the rear wheels that would fit over the stupid thing on the front calipers. The front stock wheels have notches to slide over the "pointless stupid thingy".

LOL

I dont think the condo association would appreciate that much. Besides, the mini-vans that typically bang my doors up around this hour would likely hit me instead. Hmmm, on second thought that may not be a bad thing.

While I got so many of you active on this thread.. What brand should I look to for quality security lug nuts?

The RH wheels were provided with a smaller (skinnier) lug nut that requires a similar extension to the tire iron, but this doesnt seem very secure..
