Question Looking for caliper paint suggestions

Yeah yeah I know, "DUDE GET A BBK!" I'll circumvent this by saying I don't want to spend $1500+ on a new brake system, I'm just thinking about painting my brakes black to go with my OEM 18"s. I think it'd look kinda slick/subtle on a brilliant silver car.

Can anyone suggest a brand of paint to use? I've looked around a little bit, and they mostly appear to all be the same, in the $30-50 range. The search function turned up lots of pics, but no actual recommendations on paint companies.

Any suggestions?

Dude, just spray them with high temp black paint from an auto parts store.
Call me cheap, but I did it and they look perfect.

Spray paint is messy and doesn't last. BTW, I would never paint the calipers anything but black or maybe silver. Something that blends. Yellow, red, blue, etc. is rice.

BBK is the way to go thou. Check for a used kit on my350Z.com.

I disagree to a point. Yes, spray paint doesn't look like powercoating, but I sprayed the calipers on my Z with high temperature paint (good up to 1200F) and it lasted beyond the 2.5 years I had the car and looked great. Granted, I did black but they cleaned up SOOOO much easier and looked much better than a dirty stock caliper.

If you want to paint them try using an engine paint or exhaust paint. These will handle the heat and will not change color once the caliphers get heated. Yeah, don't go any color but what someone else tells you...it keeps you from thinking for yourself and it saves you from someone calling you out on your "ricer" look....Anyhow,You can cover nearly everything with a plastic bag that you bought the paint in. Just slip it over the rotor and use some tape to secure it. Once you get there you will see what you need to cover. It takes about 15 minutes per wheel to get it done after you do the intital clean up-please use a wire brush to get the crap off. This not as good as powdercoating but it will get you the look you are after with the lowest cost and least work. Keep in mind that you may be told you are going the cheap route but hey sometimes you gotta make the car payment not the BBK payment. Enjoy!!

Guys Autozone and Advance Auto Parts sells kits from Dupont for Caliper Paint. You paint it on by hand. I bought a black kit a few days ago and plan to do it this weekend.

Check the heat before you use that. Some of the caliper painting kits have paint good for only like 400 degrees. Make sure its a pretty high temp.
