Manual or automatic?

I'm going to by a 2006 G35 Coupe. I've never owned a manual, but always wanted one. I know they are a PITA in traffic which leads me to get an automatic...However, before I make a decision, I have to ask the owners out their who already own the automatic and manual.... Which one should I buy- in other words what are the pros & cons of each....for example, I already know the performance horsepower versus torque numbers differ between the automatic and manual...which one is "quicker"....also which one handles better in the snow???
I look forward to your replies in helping me choose which model to purchase....
Thankyou.

i don't have 6mt but i have 5at.. even tho there is a HP/Torque difference, u probably won't notice it.. atleast i don't think so.. the 5at is still strong for me and if i feel like shifting, i'd just push the **** to the right and pretend im in the Initial D video game

I had a thread that i posted a while ago about a 6speed auto vs a 6speed manual and everybody says that the manual would still be "SO MUCH FASTER" i doubt it the only reason the 6 speed has more hp is because it redlines at 7200 vs 6700 rpm (nothing a ECU mod cant fix)i just say it depends on what your personal taste are... manuals are fun to drive when you wants but are not as practicle as a auto in daily driving. I have a auto and i have fun driving it around in tiptronic and when im on the phone or what not i can just stick it in drive and talk away without having to change gears. I guess its up to what you want choose what you want rather than what everybody in the forum thinks.

That's because they have DSG, which is a manual with two electronically controlled clutches. My bro used to have an A3 with DSG and I would take DSG over conventional manual tranny any day. Audi/VW's DSG is really good.

Anyway, obviously I'm biased here but I wouldn't have it any other way... 6MT is just so much fun It's not that bad in traffic as some people make it out to be. Plus I would never want 20% drivetrain loss that comes with auto oppsed to 15% on manual.

^Not really a good comparison because Ferrari would most likely be a weekend car opposed to out G's which most are daily driven.

You also have to take into fact that half the people that drive manuals suck at driving them and lose even more power. At the race track i raced a 6 speed 350z and i was running 14.1 all night he was running 14.3 he also had the same mods as i did....I say it really does depend on the drivier
