S2k / G35

So, i'm in the market for a car and I have a situation where I could possibly go either way, but not sure if I am missing anything. So feedack is appreciated. Some backgound info, I currently drive an '02 RSX w/ no payments left. Ok, so here are the two scenarios.

(1) Used 2000 S2k w/ 48k miles on it for 16k (tip top shape, thx G )

OR

(2) 12 month lease program w/ one of the '06 G coupes.

My plan was to go w/ either one of these scenarios for 1 to 1.5 years and then switch out to the newly redsigned G coupe later next year. But I crunched some numbers and it seems as though it's a very close race.

For scenario (1) w/ the s2k, I have to fork over 3k more, assuming my RSX is worth 13k. Look 1 yr down the line, the car's probably depreciated around 2.3k. So the total amount I would of spent on it is $5.3k.

For scenario (2), assuming the out of pocket value which is $1.5k or so (according to most people on that 12-month lease program thread) and 400/month for 12 months, the total comes up to $4.8k.

With those scenarios setup, can anyone tell me why I should even consider the seven yr old s2k when I can drive around in a new G while still having the cash from my rsx? o.O Or any I hallucinating and missing some variables? o.O

your depreciation is about what a s2000 for a 03 is and what an 02 is.
www.edmunds.com
a 2003 private party right now is $19,910
a 2002 private party right now is $17,842

so in a year you're looking at the price depreciating 2,068 considering you drive an average of 12,000 a year.

I am not really a big fan of leasing a car, and in this situation, you may put in 5.3K for the S2K, but it is your car...not saying that i like S2Ks, personally I like the G coupe a lot more. Look around for a G coupe 03 6MT. You'll be able to find one..

unless you are paying off when you *buy* your car at the dealer, it's not your car either way rather you are leasing or getting a loan.
people tend to think that lease is like renting (which is kind of true) but you pay less and drive a nice car
also...if you wanna buy it after the lease term, you can buy it too!
another things, i am currently on loan but i got 7000 miles over a year and 7months...i kind of regret getting a loan instead of lease because i will be selling my car in near future before i pay off my car.
