2007 G35 6MT: Is this a good lease?

Ok, so it's getting warmer here in CT and it's about time I sell my WRX and buy a G35.

I went to the dealership the other day and the guy told me that he can give me a pretty good price on a lease. I'm really looking to just buy, but the lease seemed really fair and i'll probably just want a new car after a couple years anyways. The lease can be for as short or as long as i'd like and would probably be about the same price no matter how long i wanted the car.

The exact car that I want is a 2007 6MT couple with a spoiler and sunroof. There might be a couple other little things, but that was pretty much it. The sticker price was just over $36K.

He was just giving me an estimate, but he told me if I put $2700 down that I could get the car for about $350 a month for as long or short as i'd like. I would want the lease to be for 36 months.

Is that a good lease? It seems like a good deal to me, but do you think that I could do better? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

semms ok.. which dealership? I got mine at Harte Infiniti in Hartford.. i put down 2K and pay around 450 a month..
plus i think they are trying to get rid of those quick since the 08's are coming in.. you may want to wait for the new body style.. i would in your case..

Thanks for the quick response. Im getting the car at Greenwich Infiniti, so im a little farther south than you.

I dont think I want to wait for the 08. Personally, from what ive seen, i like the 07 look better. Plus i can get it now and at a better price.

I'm sure that they want to get rid of those 07's which is why the $350 a month seems like a good deal, but i dont know too much about leasing. I've always just bought my cars, but it seems like $350 a month with $2700 down is too good to pass up on. I plan on selling my WRX for $14k and that's pretty much what will pay for three years of using that car. Especially when i was planning on spending about $35k (minus the $14k).

The number you give is way too vague to judge it...lets use some numbers and let you decide yourself...

The MSRP on G35 6MT coupe with sunroof and Spoiler is 36300, the invoice is 33349, Cap price (selling price) is invoice, 495 for acquisition fee, 350 for DMV fee, with 2.7k cap reduction (down payment) the adjuested cap price is 31494 (estimate).

with M/F of 0.002(4.8%)
for 24 mos with 65% residual the payment is 439
for 36 mos with 55% residaul the payment is 423
for 48 mos with 45% residual the payment is 411
for 60 mos with 37% residual the payment is 390 all plus sales tax.

To get you into that 350/mos? they would have to either sell you that car for 2.5k below invoice or about 1.2% interest rate and then you still have to add the sales tax and other small fess, I am not saying its impossible, as many times they would have a "special" leasing rate going on with higher residuals or low low interest rats or both, but the sales ppl might just try to tell you anything to get you to sit down and talk about the deal so they could have a chance to wear you down by throwing you all different kinds of numbers, just be carefull, do some research on-line find out as much as you can regarding the lease, there are way too much places they could hide the numbers when comes to leasing a car.

My guess would be when you go back to that dealership, they are going to tell you that you have to come up another 1.5k or so to cover the fees and that 350/mos is more like 459 plus tax and for 42 mos...but that just my guess, it could be worse...

so you're saying that it would be a good deal then? I'm going back next weekend to talk some more serious numbers, but we'll see how much of a difference the lease terms actuallly comes out to. It does seem a little too good to be true. Hopefully he wasnt BSing me too much.

Yes, if they stick to 350/mos for 24/36/48/60 months and only 2.7k out of pocket...let us know how it turn out.
