Should I??
Im sure the opinions are going to be bias but, should I or shouldnt I get rid of my Avalanche and step into a G35 Coupe. I lived in GA and only had to drive 3miles to work. Now I drive about 30 round trip since the move to Charlotte, NC. Fill up for me is over $80. Other then gas, does it make since.
He's not moving to the arctic circle. It's 3 hrs northeast of Atlanta...so they may get 1 snow day more per year. If I was able to pilot a RWD Nissan pickup 90 miles through a foot of unplowed snow in central NY, I think a G coupe should survive fine in NC. I think the other drivers are what's more dangerous when it snows in the Southeast. Between the SUV drivers doing 80 b/c they forget all cars have the same 4 brakes when stopping and others doing 2mph b/c they think a sprinkling is the end of times, it can definitely get dicey. Plenty of airbags, a strong crash structure and common sense matter more than 4wd and snow tires down here.
I'd be more concerned about the loss of utility. If you ever carried anything in the Avalanche or towed, then I'd be concerned about a coupe. Also if you're upside down or anything on the truck...it may not be worth changing. G's aren't exactly economy cars so you'll see maybe a 50% increase in mileage but switching to premium (not a necessity) will put it closer to 40%.
I went for years in a Honda Prelude which has roughly the same interior cabin size as a G coupe. Moving stuff, carrying friends etc all sucked with a coupe compared to my previous Accord sedan. Moving to a G sedan at least gives me some flexibility back and I'm not sure how much you'll miss the space the truck gives you.
