Newbie is looking for G35 coupe - what do I need to know??
My name is Mike and I am looking for a nice G35 coupe. From looking at the interiors, I like the 2005 model over previous years.
So tell me, what do I need to know? I have a mechanic background but even that didn't help me on a 2000 BMW 328Ci I bought a year or so ago.
I loved the car but had LOTS of problems with it. I should have wrote a book on all the places I was towed from. Other owners tell me I just got a bad one that had been abused. Had I done a little research before purchasing I would have known about their steptronic "lifetime trans fluid" and that failures are common beginning as early as 40k miles.
Also A-frames and balljoints that "wear out" at 40k? Again, maybe just a product of an abused vehicle but still indicates to me a high-tech but "delicate" car.
What about the G35's? I have never owned an Infinity (or a Nissan for that matter) Can I expect the same quality and reliability as Lexus? I had a Lexus SC400 and was probably the best quality and most reliable car I had ever owned. Am looking for an automatic car as I do a lot of city driving. Also looking for HID xenons like the beemer.
Did they offer projector HIDS on 2005's or can someone give me the G35 headlamp options 101 class? I had a dealer show me a car yesterday and tell me headlamps were HID Xenon but no projector lens?
Anyhow, will lurk around to read what all user experiences are. I value your advice as current G35 owners in trying to avoid my obvious bad luck on my BMW purchase. TIA!!!!
EDIT: Got the answer to the HID question here: https://g35driver.com/forums/lighting/203721-hid-04-a.html
