g35 gas mileage
Hey Guys,
First Post. I've been reading everything on here for about a month and have been looking for a G35 for a month too. I think I finally found a Athens Blue that I like. My only concern is gas mileage.. It kinda sucks on the g35 hey? Anyone have any beef about the gas mileage or it pretty similar to other cars in its league? I know its not gonna be a honda civic, but I found a lot of SUVs that suck less gas than the G35. Problem is.. I dont like SUVs or any other car for that matter.. ahha I just dont want the car to be ridiculous on fuel. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
I'm in Canada btw, im not sure what fuel costs down in the states..

All highway you should have no problem getting 25 mpg, or even better in some cases. 50/50 I get close to 20mpg. All city I get just over 16mpg.
I'm probably going to pick up a used civic for a DD soon. Should pay for itself in a year or two combining the gas savings and the mileage not put on my G.

No regrets whatsoever... I couldn't justify to myself buying a car I would be less happy with just because of gas mileage. However, some people wouldn't be happy with low gas mileage, so whatever makes you happy, go for it!

The G will decelerate far slower.
Big picture: Either car will get *similar* MPG, with the STI having a slight edge in city if you drive calm, and the G on the hwy, again if you drive calm. The G is SO easy to step on; in the STI, it's a bit harder because even if you get on the pedal, the turbo still has to reach boost threshold before you have power.

I appreciate all responses.. I have no doubt that Im getting a G35. Just wanted some input from current owners.. I dont want to be one of those guys that sells the G in 2 years cause they are sick of putting in premium fuel twice a week ahah, especially now that gas has doubled!. I'm no baller so the wasted funds is more of a deal to me then many others on here. As long as its justifiable and not over the top like a hummer, I'm cool with that. I've been driving a boring corolla for 5 years(I'm a year out of university, the corolla was the parents') and although it has great mileage, I dont want to drive anything like that anymore ahah (BUT I still have the option to take it every once in a while if I want to save on gas =] )
I'd expect to get 1/2 to 2/3 the MPG of the corolla....

Nice informative post. BTW, I'm getting 22-23 mpg driving 90% hwy @ between 70-75 mph.
