Unethical Sales Practices at Ann Arbor Infinit
Unethical Sales Practices at Ann Arbor Infinit
My hopes are that members of this forum in the Michigan area will read this thread in order to avoid any possible bad experiences associated with the purchase of their new Infiniti.
Over the past week, I have negotiated a lease with the sales manager at Ann Arbor Infiniti. Our final lease price was arrived at by phone, and I gave him a deposit by credit card to arrange for the trade of a vehicle from out of state. I carefully worked the numbers with him by phone on paper, in the presence of family members. T's were crossed and I's were dotted. Numbers confirmed, then reconfirmed.
What occurred 48 hours later was not only infuriating, but the most unethical experience I've had yet in car "negotiations". Due our busy schedule, the lease paperwork was brough to our house by the sales manger's assistant. Not only was he 90 minutes late, but the monthly lease payments were 40 dollars higher than agreed upon.
Our discussion at that point was very brief. He was not only rude, but hung up the phone after suggesting my memory was at fault. End of deal.
Avoid this dealership. Avoid this salesman. Had he remained true to his word, I would have steered much more business his way. When people are putting forth their hard earned money for a quality purchase, the last thing we need is some clown jerking us around.
Bad experience.
Good luck with yours.

I live in MI by Detroit...currently looking for a G. They've had a 04 OB MT Coupe for a long time and never changed the price.. Anyway Thanks for your input. All the Infiniti dealers around here are pretty snobbish and think the G's still hold super high value judging by their price / non-willingness to negotiate. I'm still tryin to find a G =*(
Update: Unethical Sales Practices at Ann Arbor Infiniti
Once the deal fell through in Ann Arbor, I approached both dealers in metro Detroit. Novi Suburban Infiniti came back with a lease price $120.00 above the "ball-park" figure. The salesman was a cheeseball. The sales manager in Troy simply pressured us too hard into making a deal on the spot....this guy was ridiculously arrogant.
Which leads to the folks in Grand Rapids. Pfieffer Infiniti provided us with a no haggle, fair price, completely rationalized on paper. No pressure whatsoever. That is how they earned our business. They brought the car to our door in metro Detroit after faxing the lease numbers and agreement beforehand.
My advice to prospective Infiniti owners in southeast Michigan is to contact Ha Truong at Pfieffer Infiniti. He will take care of you, no funny stuff. Unlike my experiences with all three dealerships in metro Detroit, the folks in Grand Rapids understand that future earnings will be made from additional purchases and referrals to other customers. I've already sent a friend his way.
The Infiniti dealer network in this area is in need of serious sales restructuring.
Call Grand Rapids.

i live in the detroit area, and just went to 4 years of college in Grand Rapids. It doesn't surprise me at all. GR people tend to be much nicer than those on the east side. Glad you got your car, and thanks for the heads up as I look to possibly buy a G35 in the detroit area.
