Another, is this deal good?

found on craigslist, i'm awaiting more pics and a Vin # from the guy, but so far seems really good. Everything i want xcept Nav, which i can deal with. Only problem is i'm in KS, he's near DC :/ I'd have to fly out and drive back, which i've no problem with. However i'd hate to fly out there and find out it's crap and not worth it.

Here's what i'm looking for, then tell me if this is worth it:
  • Black on Black
  • brembo's
  • 6-Speed
  • Coupe
  • no spoiler(aka aero's i believe)
  • under 80k (just makes it)
  • price within 13-15k (this 13k would leave me with 2k mods..... so sounds good lol)
  • Year 03-04 (all i can afford with wanting a coupe, and i don't want 05's because tires for 19" are f'n redicoulously priced with how fast these cars can go through tires. Like i said i just can't afford it, i'm being cheap with my First G)
I can do all my own mods/maintenance so that's really why i don't mind a car with 80k miles... + i should be getting a bike again soon so i'd be driving her less

he's had it listed for a couple of weeks, first asked 13495, now 13195.
03 INFINTI G35 COUPE - $13195

FLAWLESS CONDITION INFINIFTI G35 COUPE 6spd manual.79k miles.Black on Black leather interiorloaded with premium BOSE sound, XENON lights, Sunroof/Moonroof,All power options, all saftey options and brembo PKG calipers/brakes. Runs, looks and drives NEW! No accidents No problems, CARFAX CERTIFIED with a Buyback Gurantee.

You need to be worried about the brakes and other parts. A brembo brake job and clutch for somebody only willing to spend 15K on a car may be overwhelming. Unless you do it yourself.

The car's exterior looks good for 80K on the clock. Don't know if I'd fly out to go see it, though. But if you want something. Sometimes you'll do anything to get it. lol

what's different about brembo brakes than normal brakes? that is mechanical, replacing pads/rotors... other than $$ of brembo's vs normal lol

I've changed the clutch in my DSM several times i don't see that being any problem, just need to read the faq to get fimialiar with this car.

as far as flying out, i'd prolly see if someone here can act as a 3rd party for me and go chk it out for me. then i'd fly out to drive it back. i'd pay of course but that's another thread somewhere else.

You obviously did not read my post. Lol. I said "UNLESS YOU DO IT YOURSELF"

I own two G35's ('04 and '05) so I know just a little bit about these cars. I was just trying to give you a heads up on the labor charges. Should you need to use Infiniti service. Since you mentioned in your post you have only have 15K to spend.

yes i read it, i just thought you were saying brembo's were hard to work on that's all

i've not paid for labor for years so i don't plan on paying with this car. As long as you're willing to search and get dirty almost anyone can do the basic stuff that most people on here seem to take to dealers. But that's just what i think. dunno. some people don't have places or tools so i understand.

thx for the heads up tho ; )

i talked to the guy, everything sounds good. But he says those are stock rims?... sure don't look like anything i've seen for these cars. Is it some option i've never seen or does he just not know what he's talking about since he's the 2nd owner?

Maybe he is trying to say that he is selling it with the stock rims. It'd make sense if the rims shown in the picture he is selling seperatley.

lol whats ur deal thespur1? why don't you keep your negative comments to yourself. mike was just pointing out that it's very unlikely that a 5 year old car is "flawless"

Would you rather have me lie to you and tell you that the car is in perfect shape and that you should get it?

I'm a skeptic when it comes to the condition of a used car. I will ALWAYS assume the car is not in "excellent" condition unless I can verify it myself.

It is HIGHLY unlikely that an "excellent" condition car would be sold; most people that care for their cars and maintain them that well are not willing to sell, and if they do, the car will go for a premium.

Here's an example. Every used 6MT G I've had sells. Yet, I turn away about 90% of the 6MT trade-ins I get. Why? It's not a car I myself would consider buying. I wouldn't want my customer to buy it either if it will have problems down the line. My reputation and the dealer's reputation is on the line.

Bottom line is, my judgement of an "excellent" car is reserved for few cars. When I say a car is "excellent", it truely is excellent.
