05 G35 Coupe 6MT good deal?
I'm thinking of buying a G35 (Always wanted one) but I'm starting to wonder if it'll be a good deal.
http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/cto/920649931.html
It has a rebuilt/salvage title but the seller says it's only body damage
Everything is stock except for the rims
I'm Not really digging the rims
That's pretty much the main things I see about the car. The persons selling it for $10,000. I'm just wondering if it's worth the money because it's a rebuilt title. This will probably be my only chance at getting a G35.
Should I buy it or no?

Do yourself a favor and buy carfax. Read through it. A salvage car can bring a lot of headache in the future if it wasnt rebuilt to OEM specs. People who buy these cars and resell them cut corners to make a profit. Keep in mind that the warranty is already Voided, due to the condition of the title.
Also keep in mind that salvage vehicles resale value is very low and their trade in value is almost non existent. I owned a salvage car and it was nice until I started to pump money into it. It was very hard to find a buyer. Be aware.

I'd pass on this one. Sounds like it could turn into a money pit.
I recently purchased an 05 6MT coupe with 19k for $16,900. The car had some minor scrapes and dents on both bumpers and curb rash on the rims from being a NJ/NYC city car, but it only had one owner and it has 19k for an 05 (I'm just hoping for no OC issues)!
Good luck and keep searching.

Still a great deal on a low mile G. I paid about 22K 6 months ago for my 05 IP and I had about 22K miles when I got the car. I had to haggle the price and wait about 6 months or so for the perfect condition/feature/color combo I wanted but I'm glad it all worked out.
Even though its not much more than what you paid for it, I'd be much happier paying 16,900 for it than 22.
You know what, I'm not even going to dwell on it anymore.
We both have great cars and should be out enjoying them

I couldn't believe I found the car for that price either! I was looking at a simarly equipped car in Chicago and after some haggling they still wanted $17,800 with 48k on the odometer.
I got an awesome deal, but by being purely a city car the clutch probably has more wear and tear on it than the 19k indicates. Also, the car needs all new tires so there's another grand easy right there. I also just found out that there's a crack in one of the catayltic converters so like you said, after all the repairs (150 per rim, 110 for small dent in passenger door, 500 high-flow cats, not sure about the bumpers yet) and tires, I probably will spend about $19,000.
That being said, these cars rock! It's an instant perma-smile every time I start-up the car.
Good luck Drtydzn12, I searched for months and finally found exactly what I wanted.

As for the stock exhaust sound...yes it does have a way to put a smile on your face after all
I too needed new tires all around when I got the car. My seller also knocked off 1,000 from the price for that when I asked.
All I know was driving it home about 120 miles from Milwaukee to Chicago was bittersweet. I loved the fact I was in my new car but hated the fact it sounded like a helicopter was flying directly over me the whole way home.
My seller sold me his car with the original stock tires from the factory. They usually last about 20K miles or so so its a good idea to swap them out first chace you get

we have bought salvaged title cars before , +1 on the carfax report . if the work was done right ,at a shop ,it should be listed on the report . also , carfax reports will show damage in general ,that have NOT caused the title to be branded . i dont know if its the same everywhere ,but here in oregon the damage has to exceed ( pretty sure on this , just wrecked my lexus ) 75% of the vehicles value to get a branded title from body damage .on a car worth 20k ,thats ALOT of damage . in the same breath ,if you know what youre looking at ,a branded car can be a awsome deal . but like someone mentioned earlier ,tough resale , next to no trade value .GOOD LUCK !!!!
