'06 G35 Coupe-- Good Deal ? hmm.

Hey Guys ,
I just wanted your input on this '06 G35 Coupe i found close by. It only has 28.5k miles on it and their asking price is 24k. I'm sure i could haggle the price even lower.
I just wanted your 2 cents on what i should ask for and any thing else you could think of to help me out.
I'm kind of new so that explains everything.

Thanks !

I am far from the authority on this, but that looks like a really nice car. I just bought my 2006 Sedan earlier this month. I love this car! I like to think that the neighborhood of $2K less is always good when I see the asking price. Look around the guides like Edmunds TMV and KBB to see the difference between the retail price (what they want) and the trade in price. They bought this at an auction. Chances are they bought it for the lower end of its worth.

The economy sucks. I imagine they would love to just move vehicles along. Even if they make just a few hundred bucks, if they keep doing this quickly, they are making money. Also, the carfax shows they put this for sale on december 4th. I am not in the industry. But I thought their financing went where it is almost like they pay rent on their vehicles to sit on their lot. I think it is a bargaining tool for you to save them having to pay the next month's rent. Might as well sell it now before the payment comes due.

Also, They are listing this as a "certified used car". This carries with it the extra warranty that they speak about. You would have a 4 1/2 year or 100K miles warranty on this thing. I think that definitely has some value.

I think it has more miles than I would want to look at (but that is me). I think for that starting price, it seems worth it. Also, check it out. I have to think you would love it. It looks great. But it isn't the only car out there. If anything isn't just right for you (and I am hoping you don't HAVE to get a car now) there are or will be other great deals as well. Being able to walk away from a deal is always the best bargaining tool.

I am just guessing, but soon you will be posting how you bought this car.

Congrats!

Dave

You could have gotten it for lower.. Private Party for an 06 with that kind of mileage is around $19k.. With today's economy and market you should be paying around private party at dealerships sometimes less.. Good luck and Congrats on the new car!

I see you're also from the NY area. I was looking at that car the other day. I'm sure you can get it for lower than $21,000.. Mention the oil consumption, see if you can get the 100k extended warranty.

21k is an great price for an 06 Coupe with 28k miles with the sports package and premium. Trying to go lower is really pushing it.
