Trading up, going to sell my G35 coupe 6MT

Has anyone traded a G35 coupe 6MT lately? I'm looking to upgrade to a G37 and have been going back and forth about what to do with my 2005 6MT (red, nav, prem, aero, 70k mi) - trade or wait and try to sell myself.

only trade it in if you need the convienence. Otherwise sell it yourself.

It's really up to you. You will get more money if you sell privately but it is a time consuming process. It's really up to you..

G37 will be a nice upgrade... Is your G35 consuming too much oil?

Check KBB for pricing on your trade in and selling price.

Remember the current economy will lower the price of your car by a few thousands. So expect to sell for less than private party price and trade in value.

Good luck

No oil problems, car has been solid since day one. Its time for me to get an automatic transmission.

The KBB prices are striking, too bad the new car prices don't dip like that.

Yeah, its a cruddy time to sell/trade a car. G37 should be a natural move up though. Hopefully you'll like the car. Personally, I wasn't too crazy about the car in the G37s trim (I tested out an 08), but I loved the stick-shift (I think it brings out the best in the car).

What are you thinking of selling for?

KBB says private sale is 15k or so. I'll have to do more research and then see what the dealer can do.

One good thing is that the leftover 08 G37 inventory is being heavily discounted at some dealers.

I've talked to a couple of Lexus dealers with a vague notion of looking at used IS-350's. I've been told numbers around the good condition trade from KBB - 12,500 or so for my loaded 04 6mt Nav with 55,600 miles. I've laughed and departed on that note. I remember why I like to sell them myself now. I'll keep the car I love and whose exhaust note I can actually hear, with that kind of ridiculousness.

Sell outright if you can. If you decide to trade it in you might be arrested for attacking the salesman when he/she tells you how much your car is "worth".

I was going to sell my G a few months ago and get the 370z but then I found out how much my car was "worth". I'm keeping my G forever now.

If you are pricing a G37 with trade don't be fooled by what they 'give' for your car.
They play $ games & make it sound like you're getting a good #.
IDK about US taxes, but one reason to trade vs sell private in Canada is rediced sales tax.
You only pay tax on the difference between trade & the new car;
it can be substantial & worth doing a trade.

...I've always sold private myself.

in MA the tax is based on the diff between new car price and old car trade, so it ends up being somewhat substantial, say $700 or so depending. Still though, crap+700 is pretty much still crap.

you're crazy if you think you'll get more. Just look on craigslist and see that even private parties can't move their g35's, I see them all the time in the 12500-15000 range now...and that's if you can find a buyer.

Humm I am actually looking for a 2006 g35 30,000-50,000 miles. However I can not seem to find one cheaper than $20,000.

I think even if i private sale mine, it may end up being well less than $20k. i'm going shopping this week (for the supposed presidents day sales) and will see what the dealers can do.

i've seen the closed out auctions on ebay for similar spec G35's, they actually are selling, but only the ones without a reserve, and for a fair price (16-20k depending). i'm not sure about the risk of listing without a reserve, with my luck i'll be the one car that sells for something ungodly lower than usual.
