From what I've heard, many of the NYC small dealers are scammers and chop-shop artists. Some people have said they'll put up cars online and then when you come in, the cars are gone and they try to sell you something different - something that could have frame damage, etc... I was also looking at some of their vehicles, and it seems that the prices are indeed too good to be true.

I would say autotrader is pretty good. I started off looking on cars myself mainly because I prefer the search results list without all the ads and crap in the way. However, I found my G on autotrader. There's often plenty of crossover I think, but there are still some that show up on one site and not on the other. Those were the two main sites that I used, I know you can certainly use this site and craigslist and the like for perhaps better results on the private side, but I kinda wanted to buy from a dealer so I went with the others.

The market place here has good deals, but you have to be patient.

Good luck. :-)

KG Suzuki is a scam from everything I've heard. I read that they advertise cars they don't even have plus they add thousands on 'reconditioning fee'.

I got screwed by a different NY dealer. These guys were called MaxSpeed Auto Sales.

So be wary of the NY dealers. I'm sure there some decent ones but be careful.

KG Suzuki are a bunch of scam artists. Just google KG Suzuki reviews and you'll find plenty of stories. They advertise cars that they don't have. You should get a carfax subscription once you're really sure you're going to buy a car (39.99 for a month) and it will tell you if the car is registered as for sale by the dealer, or if someone aleady has bought and registered the car. I did that when I was looking for my car, and all the cars that KG Suzuki advertises on cars.com had already sold.
