Looking to purchase a G35 6MT Sedan soon have Q's

Hello All,

I am looking to buy a 05/06 G35 Sedan 6MT real soon and have a few questions, Ive read almost all the FAQ's browsed all over but haven't really found what im looking for. I may have missed my answer and if I have simply post where I can find it, I know there is some search ****'s I definitely tried to find all my answers.

At first I was dead set on an 07 Sedan, But with the 06 coming in so much cheaper I really cant justify the cost difference at this time in my life, Unless I find a sweet deal (are they that much diff to justify another 8-10k).

Is there any V35 vs V36 comparisons? I know the 07 gets a nicer interior a stiffer chassis and the HR motor but any suspension or just general comparisons would be nice to read about.

Was the G35 Sedan ever available in black leather with a white exterior?

Options that I want to have.
  • 6MT
  • Black Leather
  • Sport Package w/LSD
  • if 1st gen 05/06

What is the best place to source a G35 6MT sedan? Ive looked on Ebay and Autotrader but most or very far away from where I live in NJ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I plan to buy in probably March / April ( starting to look now so I have time to find exactly what I want )

Thanks in advance!,

Yes white with black leather was made, not common but they are out there.

As for where, it's all luck of the draw.

I don't know of a 1st vs 2nd gen compare of the 35's.

Anyone else have any good links or places to check for a nice un-molested stock G35 6MT Sedan.

Performance wise is the V36 that much superior to the V35? I know the luxury amenities are a huge difference but from a whole car and performance perspective would they justify another 10k to purchase?

Thanks again,

I would buy a 2nd gen sedan, maybe it's because I had nothing but clutch problems with my 1st gen 6mt. haha

What kind of clutch problems have you seen? I know my buddy had a clutch recall on his 07Z & 07 G35S Sedan

I'm going to be in the same exact situation as you as soon as I sell my car (Hopefully very soon). I also checked out the 07 Sedan 6mt and heavily considered it but I too am not sure I can justify the extra money for a nicer interior, upgraded exterior and HR engine. Plus if I get the 06 I will be able to get boosted! So that helps solidify that decision unless when I test drive them back to back the newer one is THAT much better in every way. Good luck in your search! Also check classified section of the marketplace.

Would any of you guys consider buying a G35 from a site such as Ebay without ever seeing the car? ( im so wary of this but I cant find anything remotely local )

Of course I would get a carfax plus pay a service to do an independent once over mechanically and cosmetically as im such an **** nit pick. Or find a forum member in the area I would be willing to pay to look the whole car over plus take pics..

FWIW, I bought my current car without seeing it first. I was looking for the perfect e46 M3. I found 2 other ones before I got mine and they were all over (Arizona, Cali, Chicago) I hired PPI's on each one until I got a great report back. The car was in Chicago. I'm in NY. We flew out there, picked up the car and drove back about 13hrs with the top down and enjoying every mile. When I got back I basically went straight to work so didn't sleep much in that 30 hr span. But my point is, if you get a PPI done and the report looks good to you, it might be worthwhile for you to pursue that car. I used Carchex.com and they were very thorough in their reports (test drive, checked under the car, interior, exterior, prior problems, electrical....etc. Since the M3 is considered a "supercar" by their standards it cost about $200 per report but I think "normal" cars were around $150. Hope that helps you. Either way good luck in search.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply, I have seen way to many cars in pics that look great and then in person theres minor door dings, Paint chips on the doors, worn leather, dirty mats etc.

Id hate to buy a car like this for 15-20k just to find some issues I am not satisfied with. Problem is ( same boat you were in ) there are none around my local region. I feel I am gonna have to lean towards the report without seeing route though if I am truly gonna find the car I want.

No problem. In terms of dings and scratches: they look for those things during the inspection. They write down where each imperfection is and take LOTS of detailed pics of every part of the car. If there's anything else you wanna know just let me know il try to help you out.

P.S. Did you test drive the 05/06 G 6mt sedan yet or the 07 one for that matter? I'll be trying to get some test drives done this weekend.

I drove an auto 07 and drove as a passenger in a 04 6MT Sedan. I will be trying to go drive a 6MT Sedan they have local ( its the color / year combo I want ) but had body work done. Trunk doesnt sit right and did a carfax and had been bought back by MFR on the records and was bought from an auction so Im def not buying it, But maybe worth the test drive to check out + it had clear corners , window tint and looked like it was resprayed.

What were your impressions after driving/being in those cars. From what I understand, performance wise the auto 07 you drove should be about the same as a manual 05/06.
As far as the 6mt you're talking about I don't know if test driving it will really give you a good idea of what a similar one in good condition would be like. You don't know what kind of damage it had and how well it was repaired. That's just from my experience. I've driven 2 identical cars and one of them had previous repair work done and they drove and performed completely different. If I was you I'd test drive one that was in good condition to get a true feel for it.
