Registering a modified car

Hey guys. So I think I found a car I like and thinking about buying it. Its modified with an intake, test pipe, and exhaust. The seller no longer has the stock parts for these. So my question is will I run into problems trying to register the car with these parts on? I remember when I bought my previous car I had to have a visual inspection at the DMV when I was registering it. Also I live in California if that matters. Any help is appreciated

no u wont have any problems registering it, but depending on the mods, you might fail inspection ( test pipes ).

I'm not sure about Cali, but here in MD...I bought a modified civic in the past in which it failed due to practically everything. The exhaust, lowered suspension, HID kit, any fiberglass bumpers, and all the amber lighting that was swapped out to clear ones. Although I was mechanically inclined, I had to remove everything and reinstall it myself after the inspection/registration. It was a pain

If I'm not mistaken, Cali has stricter emission laws...they might give you a hard time about the whole intake and exhaust system even if the car is not throwing any check engine codes.

You must have CARB #s for modified parts..since you may have to take it to the DMV.

I just went to see the car and talked to the seller. He claims that I wont have to get the car inspected if I buy the car. He said he used to sell cars and knows I wont have to. Is he just BSing me? Because I feel like he is.
