Question on Salvage Title 07 G35
Sup guys, first time post here.
I live with my grandfather who has a 04 G35 that just hit 60,000. He works from home so I drive it most of the time but now its time to get me a car.
I'm working with a budget of 16,000-19,000
I (like the bulk of people I'm sure) really like the newer G35 with the different head/tail lights, GPS that is more common, different dash etc.
I'm looking for something with 45,000 miles or less on it (preferably 40,000 or less) so obviously a normal 07 G35 is out of the question.
I'm not a mechanic but know a decent amount about cars. That being said I've obviously never purchased a salvage title car before.
Assuming I took it to a mechanic who confirmed that the frame wasn't touched, and he gave it the go ahead, is there any reason why I should steer clear of a salvage title 07 G35?
What are peoples opinions on this?
Thanks for any advice guys.

IF you plan on keeping this car for a very long time then its not a bad option to have a salvage/rebuilt car. I just finished fixing my new 07 G35 coupe 6SPD and got it all done for under 10K. Its better to buy the car crashed and fixing it yourself this way you know what is wrong with it than buying it fixed without knowing what was the extent of the damage. A well rebuilt car will give you no more problems than a never crashed car. the only down side is the resale. It is going to be really troublesome to try and sell later. Good luck.

Thanks for the info.
I do plan on keeping it for a long time.
My main concern is my expert level.
If I found a salvage 07 G35 6SPD 4 door I would be worried about being able to estimate 1) what I should pay for it, 2) what it would cost to fix it.
Also I wouldn't be able to do any of the work myself. So I'd have to find a reputable body shop in LA and know that I'm still going to come out on top in terms of target budget.
So all of this makes me nervous. I'm not worried about the resale.
The last small thing I'm worried about is insurance and how that would work with Geico (who I have another car with already so I'd need to add it to my current policy to save money) and whether there would be issues there in terms of insuring it.

My inexperience with body work and diagnostics, as well as your opinions, is starting to make me feel the same way.
Speaking of higher mileage....
With no real data to back it up, my goal was to get a car with 40,000 miles or less. This is proving to be tough because I'm looking for a 07 G35 w/ Nav for $20k or less.
Would it be ill advised to up the mileage to 50,000 in an effort to find more choices? Originally I really wanted a 6speed but thats just going to be impossible with the price range I'm at. I just know the car I get I'm going to have for a looong time so I'll definitely break the 100,000 mark, and I don't know when things tend to start going wrong on these cars. It will be a daily driver and I like to have fun with it but I'd never take it to the track or anything, or do any super intense driving with it.

you would be surprised the very little damage insurance companies need to declare a car rebuilt. If you fix it your self you are in the clear. I wouldn't recommend buying it fixed allready as you never know what was wrong with it. BTW I may be mistaken but 07 sedans only came automatic I believe 6spds started in 08. Good luck any ways I think its going to be really hard to find and 07 sedan with under 50K for that price range

IDK about a salvaged G, but I bought a salvaged rebuilt F-150 seven years and 135,000 miles ago(has 170,000 on it) and the thing is still getting me around and has not given me any problems out of the normal upkeep of a vehicle. I'm sure you win some and loose some when it comes to rebuilds.
