'07 G35S ~22k miles - Should I buy it? Advice Needed
Hello Everyone,
I am newbie on this site and in terms of car buying experience as well.
I am planning to buy my first car very soon.I am quite sold on the G35 and have couple of deals from which I need to pick and choose.
I am getting a '07 G35 Auto Sport(Liquid Platinum) with 21,700 miles on it for $22929(excluding ttl). I have looked into some other cars as well but all the '08 models with similar miles i.e around 25k-34k miles are priced around $27k-$28k(excluding ttl).
There is one 08 G35 Journey edition with 41k miles for $23891.
Please advice me, if you think I should go ahead and buy the 07 G35S(with less miles) or 08 G35 Journey(with relatively more miles). I am quite liking this deal till now, since I don't mind going for a '07 model, since I don't think there are any deal breaker issues with the '07 model. Plus the difference of $5k is quite huge for my budget. I am planning to keep things under $25k OTD.
Another car I am confused with is '08 Acura TL , which i am getting for around $24k(excluding ttl) with around 25k-29k miles on it.
Please let me know your thoughts on this deal with regards to both 07 G35S(or 08 G35 with more miles) and the 08 Acura TL. I need to buy the car by tomorrow or latest next week.
Thanks,
Stormrider

First & foremost, welcome to the forum. Just reading your post I believe you have answered all of your own questions ..lol. I did the same thing when I bought my 07 G35 sedan in 08..(beautiful condition). I knew what I wanted to pay, I loved the car (1 owner) & loved everything in it. There are diffs in the 07 that 08 & above do not have (ex. Nav changes) but are great to have. later model owners miss the features. Mine had 19.0 miles on it so your mileage is even better. check out your tires well, make sure they are good. if your happy with the price, Go for it !! Best of luck to you. I still looove my G 3 years later : )
Personally, I'd stay away from the first year of a new model or cycle of a model but if you like the 07 you drove, go for it. It is a buyer's market so you can knock them down a bit if you want (also go in near the end of the month & get a salesman who looks like they haven't hit their quota yet
).
Look at KBB, NADA, and black book to compare those prices with what you see but it looks like everyone thinks it's a good deal already.
As for the Acura TL - figure out which one you liked driving more, and go from there. Though it's a FWD, the Acura will probably retain a better resale value in the future. Least it's not a fugly 09 model

I do agree with S 854 on the KBB & trying to knock the price down. play ball with them & try to get a feel for how many buyers are "on the line" so to speak. If the salesman is desperate, the ball is in your court...best of luck. let us know how it went.
