Question for '03 owners...

Or any year I guess lol but I may be buying a ('03 RedAT with 49k on it) here in the next week or so, but I'm wondering if there is anything that comes along with age? Any problems I should be concerned with when getting the car at 8 years? Like engine problems or any type of wear that would occur over that 8 years, other than normal? Any help would great guys, thanks!

Compression Rod Bushings will be shot and in need of replacement. This is for pretty much any G35 or 350Z with over 25K miles.

also check the 3rd brake light..

it's about a $150 to $200 job to replace the housing/bulb.

I have an '03, bought it new. I have change the brakes several times, drive belts once, replace the stock Bose cd because it stop working, and the usual replace all fluids base on the manual recomendations. My car just turn 64K miles. What's the price on the G35 you're planning to get?

Window motors, door lock actuators, and trunk lid popper. All common problems.

If you are buying it from the dealership, tryn get a vehicle service history report. look to see if the last owner had the recall's performed on it, if they did not, have them knock those out before you recieve teh car(its free). adn it will also tell you what the cars had problems with in the past, i JUST got my 03's records from the dealership(free) and it seems like service was upkept until 09, but up until then right headlight ballast has went out 3 times already. so i know to keep a lookout for that! and I have also found out that the car had lojack installed at ~2000 miles so i gotta find out how to activate that, or how to get what i need to have it tracked in the event that its stolen.

Edit: I'm sure you know but if you find somethign wrong and they try to charge you, or raise the price of the car, dont let em! we all know their prices are rediculous. the history report also showed that the headlight bulb went out, and even though previous owner supplied his own bulb, it was $150 to have a single bulb installed. I was LMAO when i saw that!

Heh- I have been here only a couple of months. Not only do I see it all of the time, but after owning my car for three weeks, my own passenger window motor went out. When I went to get it fixed, there was 2007 coupe there with the same problem.

Yeah, all bushings also go, Circuit board for the AC goes out. Watch out for leaking Steering rack, and Leaking Rear differential seal. and squeaky seat rail..

the 03/04 first gen G35 suffered from a lot of rattling/interior noise. i bought mine brand new, it's a 03.5. the difference in the 03 and 03.5s is the trunk lid, the earlier 03s have the tiny infiniti letters in the back along with the trunk handle. 03.5s have the smooth trunk face with larger infiniti letters across the back.

my CD player went out 5 years later (1 month after the 5 year warranty expired), all my motors, window, seats, sunroof work fine to this day, 89k miles later.

make sure to look for all the service bulletins out for our vehicle (several) the NHTSA website and one of the links here on this forum has them.

I have an 03.5 with 60k miles, I've had my rear axle replaced, relay harness replaced, steering rack, power steering pump, all bushings, compression rods, CD player twice, valve cover gasket, and a few more parts replaced, but long story short all suspension parts wear really fast on this car & it has a crap load of TSB's.

Yea i just bought my 03 g35 coupe MT with 97,000 miles and the passenger window motor acts up alot. When i roll it up i have to press the window lock button to keep it up or else once it gets to the point where its up it goes back down to a 2/3 position kinda.

My shocks are probably shot. I get alot of rub in the back from larger wheels that previous woner put on.

I think my CD player still works?? Takes a while to load a CD but it still does. Then random cosmetic damage here and there. But so far i love it still good luck on your purchase!!
