Am I being stupid???
Am I being stupid???
So im bringing in my 04 G35 sedan tomorrow to trade it in for $3500. I'm starting to do searches (i know, a little late) and seeing it go for more.
A little about the car. It does have a lot of miles, 180k. the car is clean though and in great condition. the flywheel and clutch have been replaced during the regular maintenance interval, as well as the timing belt. all scheduled maintenances have been kept. I am one of two owners but have owned it since 2005. there is nothing mechanically wrong with the car at all except for a frozen caliper on the rear left wheel. the interior is super clean and so is the body. Its got power/heated seats, bose stereo, all leather interior and rear reclining seats and power/tilt sunroof.
the only reason im letting it go for 3500 is the fact that I live in NE and the car is rear wheel drive and a MT. It is so fun to drive though and may just fork up the extra 3500 to keep it.
what does the G35 community think?
thanks.

what are you trading it in for?
without any future maintenance how many miles do you predict the car will last for?
If you can get 35,000 miles out of the car with just oil changes/spark plugs, you're only paying $.10/mile which is as cheap as it gets.

Its for a 2013 MDX. i have a baby on the way and want something with really good AWD. I predict the car will go another 100k, but thats cause im bias (and secretly in love with it
, which is why im asking others. though i admit, a g35 forum isn't the most objective place to start.
i really am thinking about just putting the 3500 into the lease instead of the trade. but i dont know if the value will last.

That is high mileage, but you're getting robbed on that trade in. Smarter options (financially) would be to sell it to a private party for more or buy a less expensive AWD replacement for weather safety and keep the G for nice weather. That said, it's not like it's a 40 year old muscle car with skinny drag tires on the front. It's a safe, modern car and should be fine for all but the worst winter weather.

If your going to sell it cheap put it on the forum and give someone the opportunity to own it instead of the stealership lol but I agree with these guys I see them here in Georgia and Florida for around 5k I have seen a few that don't run for 2500-3500
im going to have to do some research to see what's being sold in this area, mileage and price wise. keep in mind this is NE and not GA. lots of snow each year for MT and the salt really erodes the bottom of the car much faster. It makes me feel a little better to know that the high mileage cars arent going for that much more down south.
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
Fix the caliper for $50 and sell it privately for $5K.
Who cares that it's new England, winter and a RWD car....if you market the car to the right crowd (Read: 18-22 year olds with not a lot of disposable income) you will sell it.
The only way I'd trade it in is if the car has mechanical issues and you don't want to deal with the hassle of private sale. If its a car you are confident in, sell it

I would advertise it at 6 or 7k and get talk down to 5k. lol! Make them think they can talk you down. Who knows, you might get 5500 or even 6 out of that deal. worth a shot. Don't forget to put OBO.
Don't trade if that's all they are willing to give you. Btw do more research on the Lincoln they are known to have drivetrain problems with the awd system. You may want to consider something else maybe a V36 awd or something in the Lexus or Volkswagen lineup
never trade in a car man. you will ALWAYS lose out that way. You have a baby on the way meaning you have a bit of time to sell it. go to Nada.com and get the value of the car, price it $500 less and sell it fast.
