Are G coupes good college cars?
Jjj |
You'd probably want someone with experience to help you with the bushings, you also might need tools that you do not have. Higher mileage is not indicative of an engine which does not consume oil; the owner may have just tolerated the oil consumption and kept it as is.
Where are you parking it? Outdoor campus parking lot? |
Thanks on the reply :3
Alright on needing extra help and tools on the bushings, would the dealership be a better option for the bushing replacement? And on parking it, most like an outdoor campus parking lot |
I had my G coupe in college, if you mod the exterior, be prepared for it to attract attention, both good and bad.
|
Oh goodness that will be scary, but thanks. i'll make sure not to have some dude's GF look at my car lol.
|
Had my G past three years of school. Just graduated. Get a good cover and park away from kids who are driving their parents beat up cars and could care less about yours.
|
congrats on graduating. Sounds like you had a bad run in with someone at school? :o
|
Nope just gotta keep away from people.
|
It's probably best to have a mechanic do the bushings, but if someone who knows how to do it can help you, then that might be fine.
If you're parking it outside, I'd pay very close attention to the condition of the car. Get one that's in as best condition as possible (i'm emphasizing paint but interior too). The sun slowly fades your paint, so if you get one in great condition, with proper care it should still look very good for a while. |
i had mine through most of my college career. could not complain. as long as you keep up on all maintenance. should be good to go. as for bushings i would pay to have it done. cost you a couple of hundred dollars and you don't have to break you hand doing it yourself.

I had a 1993 Mark 8 while i was in college in Boston...back in 1999. It was a POS, but it was great for college.
Let me just say drunk college kids will look for a flashy car to screw with. Used to wake up on Sat and Sunday mornings and look out in the campus lot and see cars with crap on their roof. One AM i saw a Jeep Cherokee with a loaded shopping cart full of food on it's roof. That was an interesting one. I was right near BU and BC and Northeastern where some kids would come to school with $50K BMW's and Audi's their parents bought them. Saw a few of those get trashed. Then when the Patriots won the superbowl, I saw cars get flipped over. My friends toyota trecel was stolen three times. No idea why as it was just a POS car. They totalled it out when it was recovered with a homeless guy living in the backseat for a week. My own car got pretty messed up as well, but it was a beater and did it's job. When i graduated...i traded it in for a brand new Mustang GT 5-spd. |
I would aim for a much less complex car. Use the money saved to enjoy your life at college rather supporting your car.
|
Get a 1989 camaro.
|
^lol at a boy!
|
Great college car. Rocked mine all throughout college and then sold it and bought another one. I need to get a grown up car now
