Starting to look for something else.

Well, Ive had my car since 2008 and i think its about time to trade up. Ive got a 06 g35c. Done the mods I want. Have been considering FI for a while but i think I'm going to take that 8-12k and put it towards trading up into something a bit more performance orientated. You can do a lot to the g to make it a quick car, but without a boat load of money it will never be a "fast" car.

Looking to buy something that someone else has already paid the deprecation, and is holding value decently. Couple Cars I'm into are the 2001-2002 viper GTS (Only years of the second generation that had ABS) or a C6 z06.

Looking to spend 40-50 k. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I'd go for the Z06. Having driven a few, they are incredible cars that really don't need much to enjoy.

Could also snag a used Shelby GT500 and get a pulley, tune exhaust and really be quick too, but if turning is important to you...Z06

Both choices are nice, if you plan to use it as a daily driver z06 would get my vote.

The GTS is something that I personally wouldn't use as a DD, more of a "break glass in case of car show" kind of car.

Good luck with your decision, you can't go wrong with either choice.

Have you driven a GTS?

My initial impression was that it wasn't a very comfortable car to drive with the pedals offset more than normal due to the trans bump

I havent driven either car yet. It just something I've been kinda thinking about this past week.

I'm very familiar with the C5 Z06/ C6 my dad had a couple of either. So i would have no issue buying one without trying it out. I know the car, just not the 505 hp version haha.

Ive heard the pedals take a little bit of getting use to on the viper, and they aren't comfortable cars to drive as a DD. I have a f150 i dd so I'm not concerned about it. I have only put about 1500 km on the g35 this year so i don't think ill have an issue. I just like the v10 and its kind of one of the last muscle cars before electronics took over

I would (as all car guys say but rarely every happens) keep it stock. Most I would do on either car is headers, HFC and exhaust tune.

I was also considering a early 90's 964 porsche turbo. Only issue is a 7/10 car goes for 65k + or so and its more then i would like to spend. I could always get a standard carrera with the aero kit but then I'm buying the car i want without the power.

I'd lean Z06 and use the differential you save to mod it. Add a blower, wide rear tires, exhaust and tune and you'd seriously have a 10 second car that can handle and brake extremely well.

I'd get a 1988 dodge colt and put $49,800 worth of engine/suspension in it.

And seats 4

Do you think you would enjoy it? Aftermarket options are good for Chevrolet.

serious answer: Yes, there is tons of LS7 parts out there and simple bolt ons produce decent power and the aren't that rare/pricey like quality v35de parts that produce okay power.

Sarcastic answer: Ill just head down to walmart and find whatever glue on vent is on sale and paint the cheap plastic interior the body colour ahah.

haha sorry urbanengineer didnt know how to take your response.

I was looking at the ISF at one time. That V8 will have a nice kick to it.
