Preordering Questions??

I sent out a emails today to a couple dealerships here in NorCal regarding their preordering protocol.

One indicated that they will have their first 2006 MT there in a couple of weeks. That particular dealership wants $1000 deposit to order a 2006 MT with desired options. He also said the "turn around" on the order can be up to 90 days.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Is the $1000 deposit and 90 days pretty standard from Infiniti?

Anyone have a good experience preordering from a "particular" dealership in Northern California?

There was also mention of "fleet/internet pricing"....sounds like BS to me.

Thanks.

Few things, the 90 days is standard for Infiniti, but if you are lucky there may be a car rolling off the line that matches your specs, and if your dealer can snag that one things will be much faster. Try to see if you like any of the cars that are already coming to the dealer, that way you dont have to wait that long. If its only missing a few options you can always add them at the dealer. Now if its something like Nav or Sport package thats missing then you have to order. The deposit varies dealer to dealer. I put down 500$ fully refundable for mine, others were asking 1000$ of which 500$ was refundable. DO NOT take that crap, make sure if you put down any amount its fully refundable. Contact the internet sales manager, he will prolly give you a better price than most salesmen. I am assuming you are ordering by yourself, so the most you may get only a small discount off msrp if any. I ordered 4 cars, so I got 2% above invoice. Definitely shop around, some dealers are more aggressive than others. Hope this helps, shoot me a pm if u have any more questions.

Tomcatm, Many thanks for the input. I don't like the idea of nonrefundable lock in situation but I may have some trouble finding a Blue 6 spd with aero pckg but without premium pckg (just never been one for a hole in my roof.)

Definitely plan to do the shop around thing.

Yeah finding one like that might be hard, your best bet is to order in. As far as the deposit goes, look at it this way: You are not going to order, hence put down the deposit, without getting a price that is acceptable to you right? So if you know 100% that you will get a g35 then it doesnt hurt you. Where it really hurts is when you order a car without pricing info AND you put down a non refundable deposit. Then if you cant agree on a price you will have to walk out without the deposit. Now that the prices are out, you should lock in an acceptable price then put down your deposit.
