I own a 2005 Sedan. My dealer generally gives me a 2003 or 2004 as a loaner. Honestly, the 2003/04's seem more "aggressive" and peppy, but I think that's due to my car "learning" my "smooth and controlled" driving style, vs. people driving the holy hell out of the loaners.

I think the forum tends to believe that the 2003/04's were generally underrated in terms of HP and performance, so much so that the performance characteristics of the cars are not as different as you might think. The 2003/04's do have Brembro brakes, so if you want to stop like a race car, you can. One thing to notice though is that the 03 / 04's shed brake dust horribly. For someone who likes his clean car to stay clean, that's a no-no. The 2005 has a different brake system, and is much less aggressively designed, but still manages to stop you in more or less the same distances.

Peformance is the same, but the 05 and later are more refined in terms of Interior, and little bugs here and there. Do a search on the forum for more info.

Performance isnt what you should be comparing between these years, its the interior refinement. Seriously its a day and night difference, if you can afford it, go for the 05.
