Congrats & Enjoy.

Why did you decide to lease. Those pmt. to me seem high.

574* 42=24,108
574 * 60= 34,440.00 (An 05 at this time 12/05 should go for 36.5-37K high)

Why not finance for a little more?

not to bright, oh and a waste of money. You put 500 down, how can you say you didnt put anything down. This is just like renting an apartment a waste of money.

I'm surprised how few people really understand leasing! A lease is EXACTLY equivalent to taking out a loan to purchase the car with a virtual term that results in a remaining balance of the residual value of the car at the end of the lease term, with the entire loan being payed off with a balloon payment of effectively selling back the car itself to the dealer.

The ONLY real downside to a lease is that since the virtual term is longer than that which you can get for purchasing (for example, my lease has an equivalent virtual term of 85 months or so), you end up paying more interest since the principal reduces more slowly due to the lower monthly payments.

You are not "renting" a car in any more of a sense than when you take a loan out over a shorter term when "purchasing" the car.

I should write a FAQ about leasing and put it in the Buying and Leasing forum so people can make more educated decisions about buying versus leasing.

thanks MechEE - it makes sense to lease for me, as i can get equity in the car after 36 months and trade it in, but the main reason i leased is that i can lease it through my business, add it to my overhead and take it off my pre-tax income...could not do that with buying...
probably a little too complicated for Brenbo to understand, as he thinks making a first payment is money down....
and Brenbo....don't even start with challenging my intelligence....you don't want to go there my friend

I may not have received a tremendous deal...but they are offering year end special of 499 but 12k miles and 2400 down...so i figured 570 was in range..

Makes sence as you plan to write it off as overhead from your business. I do not understand how you could trade it in after 36 mo. and get equity from the car. I did not think this is possible on a leased car.

That seems a little high. I got mine month ago the same deal for $480/month (including 5% tax) with 05' Athens blue, 6mt, premium with nav. Bargain some more my friend. Try to get to $500/month. Good luck.

Thumbs up

I personally just did the same I leased a Ivory Pearl 2005 coupe for 36 months. I got mine at invoice and the Payment came out to $474 a month. Considering I'm 23 and this is my first car out of college I'm pretty happy. It does not matter what everyone else says about your deal The G35 isn't really a car that needs to be discounted in the first place.

I went in to look at a 2003 coupe with 30,000 miles they seem to be around a lot here in Raleigh and most of them were going for 28,000-30,000. My car at the end of three years with 36,000 miles on it they say it will be worth 21k I'd think I could sell it myself for atleast 23k at the end of the lease. Then I'll have 2,000 to put down on my next one. If not I'd be happy with the same deal I got now which was 0 down, and I'll be more than happy to do it again.

Does that mean you would have to buy it first at the end of the lease. Then sell or trade it in .
