WRX owner, Considering G35 Coupe
Performance
Just was at a track day with all kinds of cars, plain wrx and sti's included. The wrx was no match for the G coupe. Pull him in the straights, and hung with him in the corners, passed him in one session. As for the sti, very close. On one session, I was starting to catch up to him(staggered starts for safety). Now I'm a slightly modded, and driver does account for something, but the plain jane wrx is no match for the G, but with similar mods I couldn't tell you what would happen.
Mods:stillen intake, crawford plenum, invidia exhaust, hotchkis sways, z springs.

I too moved from a WRX to a G35. I'll agree with most of everything that has been said about the WRX move to a G. I was able to track my wrx and found it to be fun, but the turbo lag was kind of a drag at the track. I've yet to get the G out to a track, but I'd imagine it'll be a little more refined. The WRX was just kind of a wild ride. Has tons of body roll and you can feel it. I'm sure the RWD vs AWD will be a little different coming out of my first turn at my first track day, but so be it...it should be a blast. WRX is a fun car to beat on, not much to look at. But the G is a fun ride (may not beat on it as much), while at the same time is one of the best looking cars on the road (coupe moreso than sedan...but sedan isn't bad either). Actually my progression of vehicles over the past 4 years has been G35 sedan, WRX, G35 coupe (don't ask, I know it's not the most financially sound move to replace cars every year)...coupe is the most fun on the road so far.
My 2 cents.

thanks for all the feedback, guess I wasnt expecting that much. The reason i would be choosing the g35 is because it is by far one of the sexiest cars on the road. If all goes well, maybe i can have both, ahahah. anyway thanks a lot.
Both would be nice...I'd love to have my old WRX for days when I just want to punish my car (dirt roads, ice racing, winter driving). If winter is an issue for you, you'll have to decide whether you're going to tough it out with winter tires on the G or go with a winter car. The G actually isn't all that bad in the winter (with snow tires). The only downfall becomes the ground clearance in big snowfalls.
Happy G hunting.
Happy G hunting.

I've seen reviews of WRX's getting 5.4 to 60
The WRX rolls a bit more in turns than the G
I test drove one a while ago when i was thinking about getting it
Then again the G has a lot less roll than most other cars.
The G also has a nicer interior and I think looks sleeker than the WRX
But if youre going to be in snow RWD could be a slight problem...

there is! but just sedan =P
i know i should search, and from reading previous threads but hasn't someone asked about swapping the awd format to a coupe? but yea that would be pretty cool... but anyway!
the wrx is sexy but the g is sexier... my good friend just got an 06 wrx and it's nice but i prefer the 05's looks..
i also think that the wrx has an exotic sound w/ an exhaust... but then again the g has a sexy growl, i would like to have both.

j/jyeah I spoke to a guy who drives a Bimmer 330, owner of a tile and granite store here who swore the G35 coupe was available in a coupe.
I had an 04' WRX before I bought my G. There are several key points mentioned in the previous posts. Most importantly, WRX has too much lag below 3k, power is very peaky. The G35 has a very flat torque curve which translates to more usable torque. The awd in the WRX is a godsend here in New England, plan to buy a set of winter tires and/or wheel if you plan on driving the G35 in the winter.
I have an 05' 6mt w/ 19's. The G35 is a much better handling car (skid pad #'s confirm this). The WRX with 17's is a decent handling car, more prone to 4wheel drifts which is fun no doubt. The WRX is very moddable and there are a ton of aftermarket and SPT parts available to tune. One thing that was terribly annoying in my WRX was the closed loop/open loop delay. It caused the car to buck violently when letting off the throttle abrubtly under heavy acceleration. The G35 is much more refined but still a sporty car.
There is no comparison as far as the interior goes. My WRX had 10k when the cloth seats started to come apart. For anyone who thinks the Bose system in the G svcks, take a listen to a stock WRX stereo. You get a better stock stereo in a Hyundai Accent.
One other thing to think about is re-sale value. The Infiniti holds its value much better than the Subie any day. Also Infiniti is also know for being among the best in customer service. Once in a while I miss the WRX, I just go for a ride in the G35 and it reminds me why I bought it. You can't match the combination of looks/performance/style/value in its price range.

I agree w/ that statement 100%! Came from an evo and I have never looked back. Could not be happier. I thought the evo's resale value was real good until I started looking at used g35s. Having 3.5 liters and power anywhere in the RPM band = priceless. Looks? The G is just....****.
I like the WRX; STI; and evo...but believe its more practical to own one if it spends 99% of its time on the track.
