how important are good tranny and differential fuilds?
I'm up for an oil change, and going to switch to Motul for the engine oil.
I'm looking to change my differntial fuild as well...And now i'm wondering if I should go with Motul fuilds for that as well?
I don't track my car, and only really push my car on occasion. What's a good recommendation on these fuilds for me?

I changed out my diff fluid after about 10K.
I was surprised by the amount of grey pasty gunk.
Any hi quallity synth will do the job;
personally I've used Amsoil for many years.
For the tranny....(can't tell which from your sig)
MT a good synth has been reported to improve shifting
if AT use OEM, it's required by warranty... but no need to change untill about 50K

I too was very surprised at what drained out at only 5k!
From what I understand, some ponies can be realized from changing out the diff oil and keeping it fresh every season, along with reduced heat generation, and longevity and noise of those rear gears.
To my mind, it's a good investment, especially changing out the original OEM fluid which goes thru the arduous process of gear wear-in.
With the right equipment, it's an easy change and keeps those gears happy.
Manual tranny has to thought of in the same light, and will also keep shifting at an optimum.
A/T fluid, from what I've learned, is best changed out sooner than later for good performance and tranny longevity. As to when---- for me about every 20-30k which is also considerably sooner than what Infiniti recommends.
It's also wise to keep an eye on the colour of A/T fluid since it darkens with excess heat, and smells burnt too.

I know they have some Amsoil.
For very little more $$ I'd highly recommend synth in the diff
I'm going to picking up some Amsoil (at prefered prices) very soon.

"good" fluids are the OEM fluids. they'll make a car last forever if you change them at the appropriate intervals.
what do you "gain" by going with "great" fluids like synthetics and/or blends? a little more comfort and piece of mind. however, i don't think fluids are going to suddenly make your car run for 500k vs. 250k.

If you don't track your car don't bother.
