U.S. politician blasts Toronto as a hotbed of Islamic extremism

it was in the globe and mail today. anyone read this? some indiana congressman has toronto all figured out ... all by himself. here are some great snipets:
A U.S. congressman warned yesterday that Canada, and in particular the enclave of "South Toronto," was a breeding ground for Islamic terrorists and that the United States will be under threat as long as passports are not required of all Canadians crossing the border.
"South Toronto, like those parts of London that are host to the radical imams who influenced the 9/11 terrorists and the shoe bomber, has people who adhere to a militant understanding of Islam," said John Hostettler, chairman of the House of Representatives subcommittee on immigration and border security, noting that Toronto has a very large South Asian community.
Later, when asked by reporters to describe "South Toronto" in greater detail, Mr. Hostettler said it was "a location which I understand is the type of enclave that allows for this radical type of discussion to go on."
ahhhhhhhhh... london. i forgot about that "south toronto" area rofl. maybe parliament in "east toronto" will reform some new bills on required passports to the states. what are the odds that this guy hasn't even been anywhere near toronto or canada? he preaches security ... but brings a loaded and conceiled handgun to the airport. it is amazing what kind of people get into politics and actually suceed to some level.

The ignorance of some people still amazes me. I laugh when I read these types of articles. Why, just shows the IQ levels of some of these people that are elected into Government positions.

South Toronto..... LOL

This guy probably thinks we live in Igloos!

there was a show on this...not sure if the show was staged though...

one of the people getting interviewed was asked something about the states in Canada, and while she was thinking about it, her son asks, "Wait a minute, doesn't Canada have provinces, not states" as the mother stand there dumbfounded.

Truly unbelievable. What cave did this idiotic security zealot crawl out of? It's so tiring to hear such foolish nonsense being being spouted by US officials who are expected to be informed and intelligent people. However it never ceases to amaze me how ignorant some US government folks are and how they react to anything or anyone that is not stamped "made in the USA".

The loaded, concealed gun thing is way over the top coming from this security extremist.

All the years I lived in the U.S that guy was an extreme right winger, big time war hawk, huge anti-immigration zealot, etc... He's always shooting his mouth off in congress. Luckily no one listens to him.

Whew... I'm glad noone listens. I was worried there for a bit so I put our armed forces on high-alert, but I'll ask them to stand down.

[Clayton and Stanley holster their slingshots, and put their war-canoes back in the shed]

Even a republican friend of mine called him a noisemaker in an election fight for his life.

Balzz hit the nail on the head. This guy is from a really conservative voter district and is in a tough election fight. The immigration issue is *HUGE* in AZ, so he'll say anything to get those fear-monger votes. The guy probably couldn't find Ontario on a map.

To be fair here though, we have had our share of politicians make just as foolish comments about our friends to the south. Stupidity is not exclusively American. We have our fair share of idiots in government.

Although I have no doubt in my mind that this guy is a tool...Canada is definitely a harbor for terrorists, no question. We let anyone into this country..its a free ride. There are several known and convicted terrorists (one for example served time in Spain) living in Montreal and other parts.. Canada doesn’t extradite easily. This is a great place to be if your a trouble maker…
