Angry Anyone else still have the power out

That was a wicked storm that blew through are area & Newmaket on Monday...

It's 36hrs & counting.... power is still out at the house.
What is particularly annoying is that we are right at the end of a grid.....
neighbours one street over only lost power for 5min.

Good thing there weren't many steaks left in the freezer

Ian,

I was thinking about you with the bad storm. I was wondering if you had power or not?

I have relatives that live in Newmarket but haven't heard if they have any power.

I guess that puts the hold on the mods for a bit eh?

I remember a number of years ago that my family was on vacation and we had no power for two weeks( suspected tornado went through the Bancroft area). Mom was pi$$ed, she had just finished freezing some strawberries!!!

Hopefully, the power will be up and running soon.

That was quite a storm that went thru Monday, Ian....sorry to hear that you have no power yet. Something that we take for granted is so sorely missed when we don't have it..
Thankfully the worst of it went thru just north of us.
I hope you asked a neighbour to keep your meats frozen...and hopefully your power will be back on soon......

C.

That sucks Ian. I am sure that is very annoying to be without power for that long. I hope it comes back on soon for you.

Ian that is a shame especially when you're trying to complete the G.

I can sympathize having gone through a 97 hour outage back when Hurricane Juan blew through here. Many people went for days more and some even weeks more than that. We lost everything in our spare freezer and fridge that we could not eat. It was interesting though my wife and I were able to shower each day with hot/warm water up until about 88 hours after the outage. A tribute to our energy efficient R2000 home I guess.

Good luck with getting the power back on. I don't envy you with that PITA.

NOT FUN.

My last home of 13 years - we've been there - done that too on a well, with some lengthy outages. Didn't have a pool though.

Best of luck.

you must be at work now!

Sorry to hear that Ian - I watched the storm rip through Newmarket from an upstairs window in my house - pretty amazing.

It ripped down several trees on my street, and lightning struck a tree on a buddy of mine's property around the corner from me. Thankfully it fell straight towards the street.

As soon as the storm started, the street lights went out, but the houses had power - didn't lose anything.

Thought I was going on an eating binge like the big blackout a few years ago. I swore after that to never eat BBQ ribs again, but enough time has passed that I'm ready.

Time heals all wounds, and I wasn't going to let all my precious ribs rot in the heat. BBQ'd them up, and we had a street party with tons of food.

Good luck with your mods - if you like, I have UPS system that you can borrow. PM me if you're interested.

Mike
