Out of commission for a while

An electrical storm last evening has knocked out my 'puter, so I have only limited access.
So don't worry, I'm still here, just waiting for a fix.

Colin.

^^^ I thought the same thing at first. Glad to hear it is only your computer that is having issues and not your beloved M.

LOL, tnx for the concern, guys and gals, but nothing so dramatic....thankfully..

Back up and running now guys...but the storm took out my vid-card, ethernet card and modem. One blessing is that without surge protectors, it would have been much worse.

Usually I turn off during a bad storm like that but this time I was in the midst of helping a member with car starting problems when the lightening struck. . --- What we do for our members sometimes...

I guess my issues pale in comparison to those here.-- TNX to Silverhand and Kyle and ?? for slugging thru this mess..

Let's hope they can sort it for us...

C.

Yes, thanks Wayne and Ian.......seems the area across southern Ontario is ripe for mega electrical storms and I'm going to have to take some 'other' measures to protect myself here.

Just to let you all know I'm in the middle of changing my O/S (XP) back to M/E which apparantly is all I'm entitled to since that's what came with the PC.

The switch to XP by my 'friend' at the shop I deal with was an under the table job which now has come to light and caused some issues... .
(the friend is no longer with them. )

I'm expecting to be back online in the next day or 2.

Thanks for watching my back while I'm away.

Colin

Colin, I have two legit unused license keys. You are more than welcome to have one of them. I would hate to see you have to go back to ME, as that is really a POS OS. PM me if want one of them before you revert back to ME.

Thanks Shane, Ian, and Giddyup......but I'm back with M/E (boooooooo) for a short time while I finalize a deal for a new system with XP Media Center or XP Vision if it comes out soon.

When the new system arrives, this one will become my backup which I dearly need at times..
so all is well again in 'computerland' lol....

.....I'm amazed at how far things have come in the last 4 yrs ---- Wow the new systems are so much more powerful and faster with huge capacities.
I'm looking forward to buying soon.

TNX for all your help guys....and thanks Shane for watching my back the last few days....

Colin

No problem at all Colin. If ME starts to give you problems, and no doubt it will, just let me know. I would be more than happy to send you a up a copy of a XP with a legitimate license key.
