I read today that Richard Hammond from Top Gear is in critical condition after crashing a rocket powered car at 450km/h.
Yowser.
Just thought this was interesting because we were talking about Top Gear at our End of Summer meet.

I download it from the news group alt.binaries.multimedia they usually post it right after the day it is aired over at BBC.

Of course these may seem like fairly ordinary functions, but not when you consider that Hammond was subjected to as much as 100g's of force as his jet-powered car rolled and left him unconscious and buried head-first in the dirt, initially classified in critical condition.
The crash was apparently caused by a burst tire. Follow the link to Clarkson's article in The Sun for a riveting account of the day of the crash, the events that lead to it, Hammond's miraculous progress on the road to full recovery, and the battle that lay ahead to keep Top Gear on the air.

Poor Hamster!
I hope he gets well soon.
Anyone know if Top Gear ever test drove a G35? I'd be very interested to see what J.C. has to say about our cars. I know he hated the Z but Hamster loved it. I only know Top Gear test drove a Skyline GT-R stating that "... an Americanized version called the Infiniti G35 is developed ..."

The new season of Top Gear starts again soon in the UK and they're going to show the film footage of the crash. No doubt that will be cause for even more complaints against the program
Saw Jonathon Ross' interview with him on YouTube.....seems to be back to the same old Hamster!
The vid is in two parts, linked below for those who may be interested.
