Rear spoiler LED fastener's snapped

As the title says. Some of you may remember at our last Show and Shine I noticed one of the fasteners of the brake LED had snapped and the LED was loose. I used some tape and before I could take it in the other side snapped as well. (Interesting set up. The screw holding the LED to the spoiler and has a plastic cap over it's channel so you have to pop it to get at the screww.)
Well, when I took the G into the Stealership for its final checkover at 97k they quoted me about $300 to fix it ( new parts) or $40 to juryrig it, not warrantyable. Went for the $40.
Any guesses as to how they "fixed" it for the 40? ......I'll give you a second to think this one through.....!
Two long bolts and two large washers to hold the LED's in place. WTF, my 80 year old mom GBH could have done that. I was tired so I said nothing and went home. Weather's been wet. Hmmmmmm. The bolts are rusting. What a good joke to play on a customer. When I noticed I LMAO at their mechanics sense of humour. I'll be calling Chris at Guelph Infiniti on Monday to share. Anyone got a baffed OEM spoiler that wants to sell the LED out of?

Wow, Sam, that does sound a little shoddy to say the least.

If you can't find another LED housing, maybe you can set the old one into silicone....
If it were done neatly it would look fine.

That's an outrageous price for a new housing....LOL, you sure that wasn't for the whole wing????

I agree the $300 is almost enough for a new spoiler.
Yuch the cheap fix sounds pretty cheap.
I would be inclined on taking it off myself, and take the complete spoiler in the house to do a more reasonable permanent fix. While it was off I would just tape up the mounting holes till it was fixed.
You might be able to remove the led and epoxy in some mounting pads or something like that

Wow, that's not good Sam. Colin and Wayne, you both offered a good suggestion with the silicone or epoxy. I agree with taking it off and do a permanent fix.

Thanks for the suggestions boys. You guys are like the Three Muskateers, you always have good suggestions. I'm thankful to have the three of you to consult
I'll take it apart and see what I can work out. I'm thinking of using a plastic wall plug in the channel that will expand as I screw it in and some sealer between the LED and the spoiler. Whatever I do won't cost me $40 and rust.

You could also call around to some auto wreckers and see if they have any G35's that you could steal a spoiler off of for a reasonable price. There must be some floating around by now.

Spoke to Chris at the service desk and told him he inadvertantly gave me a very cheap and unacceptable fix that was rusting. He didn't think the screws could rust so fast. But he offered the $40 back and I took it. I drove to Guelph after work to show him the rust and he agreed it was unacceptable. Figured I maintained my credability ( worth 1/2 hour and some gas). I asked about going to Infiniti for aclaim and he said, been there, done that. Infiniti says it cracks from people using the spoiler to open and close the trunk. Freekin stupid responce. A piece of the body should not break because you touch it.
Whatever, glad to get my $46 back.

No word from wreckers re a replacement LED yet.
