***You Passed Your Driver's Test***

Congratulations, you got 8/10 correct.
You're a good driver - at least, when you want to be.

I got the broken yellow line wrong. I thought it says SOLID yellow line since broken yellow line would be too easy.

I also got the flashing red light question wrong. I mean, you HAVE to STOP before you can YIELD, right? I mean, you can't possibly YIELD when you're barrelling down the road at 120 km/hr?

-Yield
^^according to the blog those are the correct answers.
Same here 7/10, and I agree with you on those two answers. They are wrong.

I got #10 wrong as well. I believe that is illegal in our province although people do it.

3/If you are driving 40 mph, how much far away should the car in front of you be?
2 car lengths away
4 car lengths away
8 car lengths away

8 car lengths would also be correct, not to mention safer.

4/During a rainstorm, when are driving conditions the most dangerous?
When the rain is the heaviest
When it first starts to rain
When the road has puddles in it

Last I checked, any of those conditions could be dangerous.

6/When do pedestrians crossing the street have the right away?
Always
At marked crosswalks
At marked crosswalks and intersections

May be true but that doesn't mean you should encourage them to walk just anywhere. Never a good idea to wave someone to walk. If they get hit, they might point the finger at you. Jay walking is common where I live. If the person walks in my path without looking, of course I'll stop. If they're not walking in my direct path, I proceed with caution unless the streets are empty.

7/If you've had one drink in the past hour, you:
Are probably already over the legal limit
Can drink a little more and then drive home
Should be fine to drive

Depends on the person, the drink, the food, etc. Common sense helps.

10/When can you turn left on red?
From one one way street to another one way street
Never
When you don't have a left red arrow

Dunno, I don't do a lot of city driving. My gut says you can turn left from a one way on to a one way but I'd probably play it safe and not unless everyone else was doing it. And no, I wouldn't jump off a bridge

You are correct, any of these conditions could be potentially dangerous. That being said when it first starts to rain, the water will mix with the oils that coat the road. Until there has been enough rain to wash away the oily mixture, the roads will be quite slick. So, yes the roads are most dangerous when it first starts to rain.

It is legal to turn left at a red light from a one way to a one way from the left most lane. This situation is no different than turning right at a red light. Pedestrians have the right of way at intersections and marked crosswalks, hence there being a fine associated with j walking. You should be able to answer most of these quesions.

You Failed Your Driver's Test

You only got 6/10 correct.
If you have a driver's license, it needs to be revoked!

I had heard that about the oils in the road causing it to be slick. Makes sense. The bikers must really need to stay alert.

That is where I learned about this effect, on a bike it can be enormously dangerous if you don't wait for the rain to thoroughly soak the road before riding. It's the same reason you shouldn't ride in the middle of the lane in dry conditions.

Exactly.....that's where most of the oil and grease drops go that fall off cars and trucks.

+1. This is one of the two questions I got wrong. I chose "at marked crosswalks and intersections". I didn't think pedestrians ALWAYS had the right of way. Doesn't make sense IMO.

I had to really think about that question but answered it correctly. It really is the only way to have safety for the public. The truth is pedestrians have to yield to cars until they have the drivers attention or risk injury or worse. I see this all the time when I am out running, especially from the high percentage of drivers who do not look right when making a right turn from a stop. Metal and rubber will win over skin and bone everytime.
