Rogers? Bell??

I need to start up a new account asap. I need internet (like Rogers Express) and basic tv, have no need for a home phone. Currently have cell with Telus.

Best new client deals? Best packages? Any one have hookups? Recomendations? Any one want to vent about how much they hate Rogers :P

Again, I'll be needing this hooked up asap.

Thanks!

How about how much I hate Bell? I've never dealt with a more poorly run company. Seriously, don't even ask because you'll be sick of it around the part where they overcharged me $756.90 and it took me a year to get it back. Nevermind how I work from home and I ordered the Bell DSL be set up when I arrived in Canada, but they forgot to turn it on for 16 days, 16 days I had to work from a Starbucks.

I've had Rogers home phone, cable, internet, and cell since June '06 and haven't had any problems. Lesser of two evils, imo.

I believe Telus now offers high speed internet - how 'bout them?

I have Rogers and the internet is way too small a place for me to describe just how much I hate them! Can't put up a dish or it'd be done...

Haha, no kidding huh? We will have to share stories sometime. Honestly my Rogers experience has been awesome. Weird.

+1.
I've just switched over to Rogers Home phone myself (mid Dec.) which seems to have gone smoothly. The portable DVD player they offered to lure me away from Bell seems like a decent unit and I'm impressed so far.
Now I have home telephone, cell phone, television, and internet from the same server which makes me a little nervous...... , but so far so good.
I've had Rogers in my home since I came to the area 36 years ago and they give decent service and care when you have a problem.

As Kevin says, they're the lesser of 2 evils (for me)

Bell on the other hand overcharged me on my final bill (after I pre-arranged the 'crossover' from bell to rogers to prevent this issue ) and now I'm having to wait "another 2 months" to get the refund........
The information I gave to bell's representative in early December (2 weeks b4 the changeover) assured me that I would not be billed for the month of December since the final bill would only be for 4 days (10th to 14th) and that I would receive the final bill at month's end which I could mail in with the few $$$$'s owing.

LOL, didn't that fall on deaf ears...... ....... having been charged (automatic debit from the bank), over a month ago, and being told today that they couldn't refund the overcharge for another 2 months didn't sit well and I conveyed that to the 4 people at bell I spoke to this afternoon.
It wasn't nearly as much as Kevin's overcharge, but it was enough for me to not want to kiss off.

We ended up on good terms (civil at least), and they promised to expedite the issue for me and get that refund cheque out this week, but I was definitely not impressed with how they do business.

........LOL, I'm ranting about a lot lately.......and my foot is much better now that I have some meds to remedy the problem.

C.

Rogers gives you 15% discount on a VIP bundle as well. That is, Wireless (cellphone), home phone, internet and tv. However, those are the four services required to qualify for th 15% VIP bundle. It use to be 3 services, but with the advent of Rogers home phone, it is included now to get 15%. I get 10% as my phone line is still with Bell.

I heard that Rogers Home phone has some problems. I guess it is dependent on area and building or residential etc.

Rogers use to also have no cap on Internet download and upload usage. I believe they brought it back and it may be 40 Gigs a month download. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Add me to the list of customers that despise Bell. I was with Exressvu for 8 years and got rid of them last year. Their customer service made me sick, it was that brutal. I tried hard to stay with Expressvu, since I am technically a Bell employee, but in the end I couldn't take their p!ss poor service anymore and cancelled my account.

I switched from Aliant (Baby Bell) to Eastlink. Phone, cable, net, TV through them and I use Rogers for cell both business / personal. Aliant refused to be price competitive until about 6 months later then called begging to get us back. What you'd expect from fat cats with a monopoly for years.

No complaints from any of them other than expense. We're getting hosed here in Canada especially on cell with little competition.

Alright just reading all this makes me mad at Bell so cliffs notes on my issues with them:

- Placed order for expressvu, dsl, cell phone, and home phone in March 2005; three months before we were to move to Canada. Gave them house information, installation of EVU was set for the move in date, cell phones would be shipped to me shortly thereafter, dsl and home phone were to be ON when we arrived, and DSL modem was to be there waiting.

- Arrive June 1, nothing is on. No phone, no DSL, no modem, no cell phones, no install of EVU.

- Call, they lost the order. Re-place order. EVU install for June 8th, cell phones shipped, DSL on and modem shipped (overnight, I work from home, need internetz), home phone ON.

- June 4th, still no home phone, no cell, no nothing.

- June 8th, EVU install, amazingly it works. Nothing else has arrived. Modem is lost, sending another overnight.

- June 9th, modem arrives. Awesome. Oh wait, DSL isn't "ON".

- June 16th, DSL finally on, 16 days without internetz. Cell phones arrived on the 12th.

- July 1, receive first bill, $1,788.90. WTF? Oh, we overcharged your cell phone account by ~$1500. WHOOPS. Well crap, you have to pay it and we will pay you back. What? No... ok, we will give you a credit.

- August 1, receive second bill and notice to make payment. Bill is for over $2000, they forgot the credit. Call, whoops, we will credit. so srry!

- August 14th, creditor calls! Y U NO PAY BEEL? I call bell, crap sorry, we will credit you for really!

- August 23rd, everything stops working. Call bell, well its because you own us $2000 dumbass! Haha, finally I flip out and they credit me. Threaten to cancel.

- Sept 1, receive bill, has over $1800 credit on it. Awesome? No; long distance plan doesnt seem to be working. I had a $10 for 2000 minute plan anywhere in NA plan, but am charged $351 for long distance. Call, we will credit but we can't give you that plan, its over. I say wtf, you had me on the plan, sorry, someone took you off and we cant renew it.

- Oct 1, receive bill for ~$1000, more overcharged long distance, call, told I will get credit.

- Nov 1, receive bill for ~$2000, more overcharged LD, call, customer service girl claims I am stealing long distance, that I am SO stupid I tell them not to put me on a rate plan and would rather be charged $1/min+ for LD then call them to credit. Ya, I am that stupid. I tell them to cancel.

- Nov 15th, creditor calls start again! Yay.

- Dec 22 '05, finally resolved after literally hundreds of hours on the phone with them, seems I had two accounts with them that they created, and they were screwing up my cell and long distance rates all along like I told them. WHOOPS. Oh, but you're canceling, so you own us $600 for the cell phones.

- Marchish '06, I FINALLY convince them through the use of many written letters and friendly lawyer friend that I will not be paying $600 for cell phones because their service was so poor it forced me to cancel.

Seriously, this isn't even it. There were issue with the cell phone reception AND the expressvu install but I am not even going to get into it. Bell = awesome.

Damn Kevin, that is brutal. No wonder you can't stand Bell I didn't have issues that extreme, but the service was every bit as bad as what you describe.

Haha, so true. I am sure they are ok to some folks, I know Rogers is horrible to some people but they've been good with me so far. Ya, the Bell thing was weird, never had that sort of consistent issue with a company before.
