Dash lights changing intensity

My dash lights seem to change intensity by themselves for no reason. I've had them checked out by the stealership. They found notning but reprogrammed them just to be sure. Still does it. Any thoughts?

maybe you're accidentally rubbing the control scroller. it's near/next to you VDC button. roll it all the way .... eh... one way dims one way brightens.. the way that brightens should click at the very top/bottom and it'll be on auto

no problem. I did the same thing when I first got my coupe. It took me a couple days to figure it out

does this happen at night or day or both? with the headlights off.. the scroll wheel will not affect the dash illumination. are u sure that it's just not your auto headlights coming in while u pass under a bridge or something? any time your lights come on ... your dash lights should dim ... unless u have the scroll wheel all the way to the top passed the click.

Exactly. With the headlights off the dash lights are on full (daytime) illumination. He must be talking about night time unless your suggestion about the auto headlights is happening. The dealer is able to adjust the sensitivity to the outdoor light with three different settings.

From what I saw last Saturday, Sam, the adjutment wheel on the dash was very loose just like the '03 coupe I had.... -- which means a faulty dimmer adjuster.

I think you'll find that you can make the problem come and go by just touching that adjutment wheel.
I believe that wheel gets loose by jarring of bumps over the years of driving.

If the dealer won't replace that wheel (which is attached to a rheostat I think), you'll have to experiment with somehow tightening that wheel by setting it and pushing something in between the wheel and the housing to see if the unwanted light variance disappears....

It sounds crude but I believe that to be the issue and it will at least tell you where the problem is.
I can't see that adjuster being very expensive......but who knows these days...

This happens anytime, first thing as I go to work or late at night. I always have the setting on auto.

I'll have to check which setting the dealer used.
