I'll do a look up how to do a snow dance for you if you agree to come and clean my driveway if it works I think it will be pretty tough to get this thing stuck.

I've never used Rain-x, but I have given it some thought. In this weather I think I'm better off using the cheap stuff, when a chinook rolls in I can use a whole bottle up in a day. I'll keep the Rain-X in mind for the spring (I hear it's coming early).
ChristianN, why not synth? I did a pretty thorough search and everyone seems to love the stuff. What problems have you heard about?

I've just always heard mixed reviews regarding the benefits of sythetic vs the additional cost. I also have a few buddies that are mechanics and they told me that if it was supposed to have sythetic it would have come with it. Another friend's dad blames his use of synthetic on degraded performance in one of his cars. I honestly don't see it as being all that much better. Just my opinion though, but I'm really still on the fence with this one.

So after much research and deliberation (cuz I'm **** like that) I've decided to go with Amsoil (on sale 20% off at PartSource right now) and Wix filters. Just nabbed a K&N air filter there, too, since they are 15% off.

Have I mentioned my Scottish heritage? I buy quality, but I want a deal!

Oh, and back to the origin of this thread we hijacked...looks like the rat may have been right after all. S'posed to get to 12C today...and the long range f/c calls for 14 on Sunday!

I hope those rats are right with their forecasts also swivelman, I'm ready for the heat.
Good choice on Amsoil, I have used some of their synthetic products a few years ago and was extremely happy with them.

It was -25C here this morning.
Speaking of "nipply" weather, I've noticed that when it's -20C or colder my 5AT refuses to
shift into 5th gear until the engine is warmed to normal operating temp, even in MM mode.
Has anybody else noticed this? Is it a fluke, a defect or a "feature"?

Brrrr....too cold for my taste, Calgary is pretty mild right now. The 5th gear thing was posted in the 07 Sedan section a while ago, and when I tested it I couldn't shift into 5th until the car warms up for a bit on extremely cold days. It seems to be a normal thing that keeps the revs up a bit like a manual choke would.
